Question Type-s Motor in TL-p

If you were to hypothetically do an engine swap and put the TL-s engine in a TL-p would it bolt right in there or would there be modding you would have to do to make it fit correctly.

This includes the 6-speed conversion as well.

Yeah, thanks NSX. I've been following Chris and his sixspeed conversion for a while, because that is ultimately what I'd like to do. My question was will the Type-S motor fit on my auto tranny. I have a feeling the answer will be yes, but I just wanted to double check. If it is going to that will probably be my christmas present for myself this year.

Yes it will fit, And bolt right up to the tranny, but you will most likely have to change out alot of wiring. Its not a plug and play operation.

because to swap the motor its going to be timly and costly. The wiring harnesses that you would have to use are designed for the 2 stage airbags which you dont have, the abs/tcs motor im sure is different due to the tl-s having vsa, the computer for the abs/tcs/vsa. you will have to buy new motor harness, dash harnesses (2 of them) air bags (if you want them to work. or do custom wiring- thats the problem i ran into in my swap) and you will have to buy the engine compartment to cabin harnesses. unless you keep the stock harnesses and do the added custom wiring seperately so that you dont have to change all the harnesses (and dont ask how to do that)

Well, thanks Chris, DJ, and NSX for clearing some stuff up. One more question. If this is a swap I would like to do, I'm guessing you would recomend doing it all at once, 6-speed tranny, and Type-S motor. That would be the most time/money effective route I guess is what I'm getting at. Thanks again guys.

If you are going to do something like that, do it all at once. Hell if you have the S motor and are going to all this trouble, might as well crack 'er open and get the heads and intake manifold p&p'ed and go get some custom cams ground for it.

I guess I would ask you what is the end result of doing this??? Do you just want to get up to the power of the Type-S?? If thats the case I would just go i/h/p and that would just about do it

No, the point is to have a six speed If I wanted the type-s power, I would do exactly that. I know that much , but I want a manual tranny, and the six speed is my only option, so why not bolt a new head onto it. More fun!

Sorry Chris. The bottom line is to do basically what you have done. Type-s motor and six speed. I was going to buy the motor first for myself this christmas, and hopefully by next summer have the six speed and just do it in two parts, but what you guys are saying is that I should do it all at once.

Well the manual motor uses some different sensors than the auto motor. and the wiring harness is different. It doesnt make sense to wire it to work, then have to rewire it again to work as a manual. I would buy the motor, change over what needs to be changed as far as sensors and wiring goes to it, let it sit till you get the tranny, then install it all at once. It will save you alot of time

That would work beautifully, if I had two cars . I'll probably buy the motor and tranny when I can and figure out a way to be without a car. We'll see. Thanks for your help guys, and the advise too.
