Thermostat removing?

I live in florida where now the tempurature is 100 deg. during the day and about 88 deg at night. I have noticed that my TL runs alot more responsive in colder weather, and now that its hot as hell it sluggish. Im trying to eliminate as much heat as possible running through my motor so it stays cooler, so on a hot day my car wont be sluggish. Ive already eliminated the radiator line hoses running through my air box by bypassing them on the outside, and I eliminated the hose that goes from the motor to the intake tube by putting a breather filter on the motor and just plugging up the hole on the intake tube. As stupid as it sounds it actually makes a difference. Its 100 deg. outside and my car isnt sluggish anymore, so I know it helped. Now im thinking of either taking the thermostat out completely or just gutting the center of the stat. I cant imagine it doing any harm to the motor. I mean its still going to be hot its not like its going to make it ice cold, but it will run slightely cooler. If the other little things I did made a difference, then the stat should make a bigger difference. I remember in the winter time in like 40 degree weather my car running the fastest. I know you need heat to produce horsepower, but not Florida heat. Let me know what you think.

if you're thinking about gutting the thermostat, consider getting a tranny cooler and using it as an auxiliary radiator and running it off of one of those lines you're changing around.

Why not fix the real problem- its 110 here and I can run with AC on full blast, temp guage 1 click below middle and drive from the valley up to 7000 feet where its still 80-95 in 2-3 hours and then back down again- never a waver in power or temp

so the TL just needs good spark plugs and a can of seafoam now and then

Thermoblock spacer which insulates the intake manifold from the head is a good investment and better than all that line blocking you are doing

Remove thermostat- only for the foolish- your car needs it to warm up quickly- or you will get false signals- which may be your poor power problem!
And buy good gas too- not el cheapos gasorama

removing or trying to gut the thermostat will result in it actually running hotter. The thermostat is there to allow the radiator time to cool the fluid. Once you remove that and the fluid gets hot there wont be enough time for the radiator to cool the fluid. Get a low temp thermostat from mugen.
