Smile Received DC headers!

Yo, So today I got my DC Headers (HHC5528) from one of our vendors XLR8.
His price was like $50.34 more than others. Autoanything has them for $354.91 after promo code and free shipping. Kinda sucks that could of covered my money I spent at the strip club the other day
Also XlR8 doesn't give ya any discount codes or coupons after making a big purchase. Like 10% or 5% next purchase like most stores do. Kinda disappointing...

But any who, How do I tell the difference between the Header front and Header rear? I notice one is a tad taller than the other one. Kinda confused here. I'm gonna attempt to maybe install them myself. If the mechanics around here are gonna charge $999 to install them... welll.. maybe not that's exaggerated. But car shops around here are thieves.

So far I got -Injen RD CAI
DC sport headers (HHC5528)

Next either Eibach pro lowering springs or Pioneer FH-X700BT Headunit/ 2 10" kicker subs. Not completely sure yet. I like music But I also like lowered cars!

CLIFFS- Difference between Header front and Header Rear
Eibach pro lowering springs or Headunit/subs?

They should only go on one way. I had those same headers in my 99 Tl years ago. If you line up where the exhaust it will go only one way. You may have use a jack to kind of push the header to a right fit. Mine didn't fit perfect and so i had to use a jack to get it to stay flush against the block. make sure the bolts are torqued down or you may notice your headers leaking air.

Sending them to computer now, holes in headers are shaped differently then each other. One is taller than the other or fatter. Wish they labeled them.

Don't quote me, but I believe the one on the right with the little jog in the pipe is the rear, looks similar to what 6mt peeps have to have for the rear motor mount

Oh yeah!

One more thing!

Get a seriously bright flashlight and shine it up the main output tube in a super dark room to check for holes in the welds!

It would reeeeeally suck to install them just to find out there's a flaw in the welds!

^ I agree on checking with a flashlight. The welds on mine had a hole so I had to get a replacement set. The one with the slight bend is the rear. All uo have to do is hold it up to the j pipe and see which one lines up with the front and rear. They won't match up with the rear on the front or front on the rear

removing stuff out of the way helps for the install of the rear.

I spent the whole day doing the same install about a year ago. I used ramps and laid on the floor of the garage, and my neck hurt for a few days afterward... That was the only down side though. The most difficult part is removing the rear motor mount to get clearance to install the rear bank of the header.
Also, get some really long extensions for your sockets and a swivel socket joint would help too.

Another sure fire way to know which header goes on which side, set the j-pipe on the floor and eyeball how each header is supposed to bolt to the j-pipe. That will tell you which goes to which, because they only bolt to the j-pipe one way.

Edit: Durr... Steven-balls-TL already stated it...

Thanks everyone, I don't feel like spending a work day off trying to install headers. I get pissed off easily. Almost bashed my old Saturn windows in when I couldn't get aftermarket speakers to fit lol. I installed my CAI by myself but that's about all I'm doing.

A local shop charges $90 an hour hmmm, Hopefully it shouldn't take them more than an hour n half.

ALSO one small issue. I did the flashlight thing like you guys said. There is a micro hole where a little little little bit of light comes out of in the middle of where all the pipes connect in one of the headers :/

God that pisses me off. Spend $400 shouldn't have to deal with this.
Could a shop just weld up the tiny hole?

I had the same thing happen. Noticed a small hole fresh outta the box. Had a local shop put a small weld. Took a second and the shop didn't even charge.
