Rear Mount Turbo Plans

I've read thru Rajca's and assclown's thread and I've decided to see what it would take to go turbo as well. I just got a holset 60 trim turbo and turbosmart wastegate (er, will get them soon). So this is a start!

^Minus that manifold haha

^ Wastegate

SO! Let's hear from you all. This won't get installed until the second half of the year or until I save up for a daily, get it and find a place to work on the TL. BUTTTTT....

Tenative Parts List:

Holset 60 trim Turbo [HAVE]
Turbosmart Ultra 38 Wastegate [HAVE]
Precision Intercooler (600HP) 2.75" in/out
HKS EVC-S Boost Controller
HKS Type 1 Turbo Timer
09+ TL SH-AWD Intake Manifold
Ported 2G Type S Lower Runners (I'll just have mine ported)
Blox 76mm Throttle Body
P2R Throttle Body adapter plate
Charge piping
Walbro 255 fuel pump

Now, my question to you all is what do you all suggest for:

Injectors?
Tuning?
Cams?

I'll finish this post later.

I was just let go from my research job at school. It sucks because this was my ticket into my career. Well, shit happens.

I'll get back with ya'll later...

Alright, well I'll just leave my stock type S cams. That's good news. And I figured RDX injectors were the way to go. I know Rajca has a diy on how to make them fit. And AEM I guess is my big investment. Do they make harnesses for our cars or do we have to make our harness work with their ecu? I assume there's baseline maps on here for a starting point for tuning?

I got the holset turbo and turbosmart wastegate for $325 plus a B series turbo manifold to sell for $325 and the turbo was freshly rebuilt. I'm excited about that!!

Ok, nevermind, I found it! I guess I have to do the 6 speed swap first. I was hoping to get all I could out of the automatic before switching to the 6 speed.

Yea, the AEM EMS only works with an auto engine mated to a manual transmission. You also use the auto engine wiring.

This is your other option if you want to keep the auto. Switch wiring and ecu over to the 07-08 tls (see link below) Also a TON of rewiring. Im sure the MS3 could work but that would also be a lot of work

Dimensions of the intercooler were going to be along the lines of between 28-32"L x 8"H x 3-3.5"W. Not sure exactly, but thinking of creating mountings for the intercooler below the metal frame rail that piece of styrofoam mounts on so the intercooler is right in the lower grill opening. I need to get my front bumper repainted anyways, so while we're at it, I'm going to cut out the black grill, smooth the transition points and repaint it all my diamond pearl white. As far as the ECU goes, I had thought about MS3 as well, but the last time I checked there was not an easy option for using our factory coil-packs. I'd have to do some more research but that was the stopping point of that. I have no problem re-wiring stuff. In fact, I know at least two engine tuck wiring harness guys down here. Anyone ever heard of Chase Bays or Rywire? I can get in touch with both of them. I'm sure they'd be willing to extend some help to me. BUT even if I'm stuck with doing it myself, it would just be a TON of research on what pins work with each other and that thread fsttyms1 quoted would be a great help! (I had just read through that thread when I heard Hondata came out with a reflash for the TL's, then saw it was just the 07-08 TL's) So bottom line for me, is to keep slowly attaining parts (intercooler, injectors-which I can get for proly <$40 a pop cuz I work at Honda-from the RDX, all other intake stuff, then I can begin to mock up the fabrication I'll need to do to mount this to the header, work out charge piping locations, downpipes, oil feed lines, ect.

I would have thought people would have jumped on this rear mount turbo setup a lot sooner. It makes running oil lines a cinch (or however you spell it) because the turbo is right by the oil pan, charge piping goes up the passenger side, into the front intercooler, and into the driver side for the intake, exhaust downpipe for turbo are already right in line with the rest of the exhaust, AND no custom turbo exhaust manifolds, just make a transition from your header flange to the turbo flange, then back again from the downpipe to the exhaust flange. Both of which are simple piping-to-flange welds.

But back to the issues at hand: I would probably look into trying and seeing to get the MS3 to work, because 1) It's MUCH less expensive 2) It would work with my auto AND when I swap to the 6 speed, and 3) I'd be more familiar with the setup since I'd be doing most of it myself.

Got prices for the 09+ SH-AWD intake and cover with gasket. Now going to confirm what else I'll need. Plenum spacer right? And the kit from P2R racing. (http://www.powerrevracing.com/product-p/p362.htm) Also going to get the Skunk2 Pro 74mm Throttle Body (http://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc/viewP...ry=619#details). Anyone used this combo? Want to make sure it will all fit (even if I have to shave off some heat shielding off the bottom of my hood and even add washers to raise it up a bit. This is all preliminary for turbo AND gives me some power while I'm gathering turbo parts.

You may have your understanding or wording wrong, A rear mount turbo is mounted typically at the very back of the car, not right there, meaning there would be a lot more plumbing involved along with much longer oil line runs. Not to mention there really isnt much room where you are talking about to mount it all.

Been busy with school and two jobs!! And true, most people when they say rear mount they mean STS. Their kits are shit. I'm talking right at the end of the J-Pipe. Plans are still in the works! But muchhhh more has been added. Including already shipped FnF Type 2's, and hopefully enkei rsf5's in a 18x8 +50 painted teal. Perrformance wise....splitting it into three steps:

1) 6-sp swap. (Must get new, cheap daily to drive while it is down for the swap)

Bisimoto will be most rest of parts

2) Full head work, race porting with over-sized valves with titanium springs and retainers. Level 3 custom camshaft. 1000cc injectors. AEM 320lph fuel pump. AEM EMS Series 2 ECU. Going to FL for the tune.

3) BorgWarner s400SX 67mm turbo OR Turbonetics/Bisimoto BTX6462X turbo. Turbonetics Godzilla BOV and RG-45 wastegate. Spearco universal 650HP rated intercooler. Bisimoto custom pistons. Bisimoto forged H-Beam rods.

My goal is 400HP for step one. 550+ HP for step two, will have street tune of probably 450HP and full race with as much power as we can squeeze out of it.Central Florida Turbo will tune it for both steps. My buddy knows the guy down there and he said they're TOP notch.

What ya'll think?? It'll take a while. All the above steps total about $10k. Why do this to a TL? Ever seen a 2G TL in a magazine with over 600HP? Didn't think so. I know its possible and Bisimoto is excited about working with me for this project. Already emailed them and got the plan.

At the end of the J-pipe? Sounds like a packaging nightmare. What about ground clearance?
