Just read around, that is how you learn what is cost-effective for you. If people just start listing stuff you will be so ridiculously confused.
First decide whether you want looks, or performance mods. There is a big difference.

IMO: Starting Performance Mod - AEM or Injen CAI
Starting Looks Mod - OEM Bodykit

 

Look in the directory section to see what others have done.

do a simple search on mods like Intake, Header, exhaust, rims, brakes. that would be the best way to see what you want. there are more than enough threads with mods to keep you reading for days!

performance mods first is HEADER to replace stock exhaust amnifold which is the most ristrictive OEM part of the car(save auto tranny which is restrictive on all automatics). Next is CAI then crank pulley, then exhuast and spacers for intake manifold and throttle body.
appearance is all in the eye of the beholder. I love the stock TL look. I like the 99 tl-p rim's when they are properly detailed. the sleeper look is fun also. always start with tint, very classy, next rear lip(spoiler) the bodykit. a good bodykit is expensive, then a drop and rims lastly. that is my advice some will disagree and I did forget to mention sway bars and cambers if you drop your car at all.

 

#1 thing to do is tint and go on from there...i like 20%black tint best

i had tint before i hade a license plate!
