Oil suggestions.........

I have a 99 3.2 tl, 89,000 miles, I live in Queens, NY. Looking to do an oil change tomorrow, don't really want to go with the mechanic oil, would like to buy my own oil, what would be the best kind to buy? Along with the lucas oil stablizer for the ticking in my engine...........................

Just get a jug of Mobil1 (5qt) from walmart. It will actually get rid of your ticking w/o the lucas oil.

If you're down in LA ... 5W30 VS 5W20 ... probably not that big a deal. It'll be warmer where you live so you'd probably want a more viscous oil to lubricate at higher temps. If you were in the Midwest ... you'd probably want a thinner oil (esp in winter) so that the engine can get to operating temps faster on start up and possibly a slightly better fuel economy (probably so small to even notice).

yeah, i wouldn't mess with 10w if i were you. factory spec is 5w, going up will change your pressure and flow characteristics. i'm doubt your engine would fail or something, but it's not the way it's meant to operate. if it were 5 years ago and an american car i would say go ahead and run 10w in the summer for protection, but our modern, japanese cars don't need it.
