New Rotor time, have some ?'s
talk to mrheeltoe or excelerate - our sponsors. racingbrake and rotora are popular choices, but there are many others. make sure to get new pads to match the rotors also - stock pads will not yield the benefit of upgrading only a portion of the brake system.
I think that unless your planning on racing your TL or drive it on a track, the drilled and slotted is not needed. Personally I went to the Brembo blanks with ProAct pads. for regular to spirited driving they do great! Get ss lines as well, that will help a lot.
not needed? depends on where and how you drive. my car, since i've owned it, has never been on a track, but in the stop and go traffic where i live - i NEEDED the slotted vanes to keep the pads and rotors cooler - otherwise i kept warping the stock parts. plus, my car stops way ahead of the dime now (and the car or whatever else jumped out in the road in front of me).
The 2nd gen. TL has the shittest brakes compared to it's competitors at that time period. Either MotorTrend or Car&Driver did a mid-size performance sedan shootout test back in 2001. The 2nd gen. TL ranked close to bottom for all the brake and braking distance tests.
We NEED every single bit of brake improvement that we can get for everyday driving. We need to buy the best pads and best rotors available to improve our bad brakes.

I agree Edward'TLS, the 2nd gen CL/TL just doesn't have enough brakes for its size so it's very important to upgrade the rotors, pads, and even lines and fluid to improve braking.
We recommend ROTORA or STOPTECH rotors. Both are great quality rotors and combine it with a good pad like ROTORA ceramics or Hawk ceramics.

Have used drilled/slotted and slotted only on other vehicles and prefer the slotted only. Have read several articles regarding the warping of the cross-drilled rotors and have experienced it myself.
If you are replacing rotors and haven't performed the Legend caliper upgrade; I would definitely look into it while you have everything apart. I started a thread titled "caliper upgrade" where several members have provided some very insiteful information.

I bought a full set of R1Concept rotors. Drilled, slotted AND zinc dipped. Love them. I just run every day ceramic pads and there is a noticeable difference. Best part is they are over a year old and not a spot of rust anywhere. Had to avoid an accident once, 75ish-0 faster than I thought possible, (I could smell the pads they were so hot) not a bit of warp.
I ABSOLUTELY would do the caliper upgrade!!! May as well get it while your in there!
