Megan Headers - AEM intake

Anyone running Megan headers on there TL's? I recently did the Tsudo mufflers and removed one of my mid resonators. Love the sound but want more performance and maybe alittle more exhaust notes.. I am also thinking about replacing my cat as well due to it being original and the flange is rotted beyond repair..

Also, I currently have a ebay intake on my TL.. Lousy i know but Im going to spend the money and get quality. Any running the AEM cold air intake?

I have the AEM, it will not give you any real power gains but it makes the eng rev a bit more freely and it feels more responsive. I have been looking into header seems like the DC for under $400 is the way to go and they are ceramic coated. Hit up xlr8 performance they have the headers and high flow cat. I looked into the Ebay CAI they are .5" smaller dia then the AEM or Injen.

honestly a high flow cat doesn't do much, It makes your exhaust raspy when you rev it, but my CAT went out so I went magnaflow high flow, im just warning you it could get a little raspy at high revs. Make sure you scrap your CAT. I received $100 bucks when trading mine in! also go DC. Megans are junk in my opinion. hit or miss. I missed with my purchase. DC's are more expensive but are worth the money. they fit better and have a better design. I just purchased my DCs and had a dyno with megans and then with DCs and I made about 5whp more with the dcs...

Thanks for the input guys. I heard that the Megans have 2 flex positions to and they dont hold up well. I will spend the extra money to get better quality. Any of you guys running the lightweight crank pulley? I wanted to do that as well but i heard if you have a stereo over 600 watts it wont work.. dont understand why.

I haven't done the crank pully, so I can't say, I read that it revs higher, so slightly quicker acceleration from a dig, but our cars suck from a dig so I didn't really think it was worth it, but up to you! and for the two flex pipes that's exactly what broke on my megans was the front flex pipe. The design again was also not a nice as the DC's. Honestly your best mods would be I/H/E. with some nice magnaflows or highflow mufflers on the rear. I made 190fwp with those mods and the TL-p's dyno around 164-170fwp stock.

I would buddy but I didn't keep the dyno sheet from my second dyno, I posted my dyno sheet on an earlier thread a little less than a year ago, so if you search you could find it. I dyno'ed at 185fwp and I was at 190.5fwp with just the simple swap of the headers.

Thanks P-town, I will search for it. If you can remember was the gain threw out the rev range or was it all top-end?

The improvements were steady through the rpm range, so you feel it althroughout.. not that you would really feel 5whp haha

Thanks P-Town, your right about the 5whp not being that noticeable but I would rather have it then give it up. Never did find the thread with the dyno but no big deal.

There are 2 types of crank pulley. One is stock size but light weight, the other is called a underdrive light weight and is smaller in dia. IF you plan on having a stereo that is well over 600watts then get the stock size light weight pulley. The pulley is worth it, especially if you have done everything else.

I just dont really see what there is to gain with the pully, like $200 + dollars just seems like a waste for the pully, not to say my tbs wasnt a waste but all you gain is torque correct? and you would gain maybe 2-3trq? unless you cant prove me wrong? from what i read i just didn't think it was worth it

No the pulley makes a difference especially if you have other mods it allows the engine to rev easier and I could notice a difference when I put mine on. I have the stock diameter because I was going to upgrade the stereo but didn't. The lightweight crank pulley is probably around 8 lbs lighter than stock.

I used to run megan headers until i blew my engine. I honestly loved them. never had any problems with them. they were on my car for two years and honestly i thought it gave more power than the others bc i had friends that had DC and other mods when i only had megan headers and i would beat them by a length or two. idk but i would recommend.

Difference between Megans and DC would be ~3whp at most, so if you were beating them by two car lengths then something was wrong with their cars.
