I Wanna remove both resonators but need help first

ive been reading all night about how removing the 2 resonators can make the car sound a tad louder. im not exspeting a miricle but just a little more niose, anyway i just wanted to clear up one last thing. do the resonators hae spesific names, and where exsactly are they located on a 99tl-p i have been getting mixed messeges from searching. what should i tell the people at midas i want done, just remove the small and large resonator and is there anything else i should know before doing this?

between the throttle-body and airbox is the small resonator. it is located to the right of the throttle body by couple of inches only. just pull it straight down. but before you do this, you will need a plug to replace it or debris will get sucked in. go to home depot and find a 3 inch rubber coupling. and one of those tightning brackets or what ever you call them.

the 2nd is below the airbox, simpy pull that one down as well, how you get to it is your choice. some have done it without taking off bumper. maybe you can, maybe you cant, i dont know. but easy way is removing bumper and bumper removal only takes 5 minutes. (first time is prolly 15 minutes, its easy, its just knowing what screws to remove.)

goodluck man.

they're just two resonators located between the cat and our mufflers. just tell them to remove those and replace them with 2" piping (i'm guessing you have a tlp from looking at your avatar). it's an easy enough task to get done at a place like Midas, but i'd get it done at an exhaust shop that's used to doing exhaust setups, plus it might be cheaper.

Yes, the TL-P has 2 resonators. They are both between the cat and the mufflers

removing resonators

Hey man I have my cat gutted out and both resonators taken off, but my exhaust size is stock along with the stock mufflers. When I gutted out my cat it still sounded stock, but then when I took both resonators off it sounds half as loud as a 350z when you floor it. It sounds healthy. But I did take my mufflers off to just hear it and it sounded like the loudest piece of shit. So im afraid to put aftermarket mufflers on.

just take them both off. you wont notice a huge difference. and unless your getting an aftermarket exhaust dont put another resonator on there.

I wouldn't remove both.. your going to resonate like a SOB, get a magnaflow resonator and replace it with the small one you didnt remove, than after that, get a 2in magnaflow y-pipe to dual 2in pipes to dual 2in magnaflow mufflers. Hope you understand what im saying hehe

you wont resonate. or atleast you shouldent. i know many AZ members who have done it with no resonation. i did it on mine and got no resonation.

the only person that did have resanation had an exhaust leak. once he got it fixed it went away.

On my TL-S I got bad resonation when the car was cold or after sitting for a while, like going into a mall than comming out 1hr later I had bad resonance. I wouldn't advise it, I wish I never did but im all patched up now.
