I haven't heard of this(high flow cats) being done frequently, if at all, but I know it is a attribute the Type-S has and the Premium model lacks. I'm interested in this answer just as well.

VITEK, here you go... http://www.speedstash.com/infocenter...s_headers.html

I'll venture to say the Type S cat is hard to find and also it probably won't yeild much hp(I'm not saying it won't help, but probably minimally), thus making its cost benefit ratio not worth it. This is all speculation, I'm just trying to contribute.

typically now days unless you have a high mileage cat replacing it with a "high flo" wont yeild much if any hp

the whole point is our stock exhaust is pretty good and not very restrictive (other than the stock exhaust manafolds) - and it wont really help your gains to change the cat, or a new cat back exhaust unless you are running some sort of forced induction. because the v6 really doesnt produce that much exhaust, therefore it doesnt really need an ultra low restrictive exhaust.

i bet for fsttyms1 and me close to 114k a new cat would help, but an OEM cat is expensive. aftermarket hi-flow cats, like magnaflow's are almost 1/3 of the price at around 200-300. I have a related question. after driving for a while when I hit 2500rpm's i hear a little resonance from my headers and then a rattling buzz, could that be a loose part inside or outside my cat?

There is no such thing as a high flow cat, just a bigger one. I am thinking about putting in a straight pipe. check out my thread to see what other peple have to say. our cars have a problem; in that they are so well deisned that it is hard to get big perfomance gains without shelling out some serious money.

i have a type-S cat and comptech cat back on my TL-P and it feels really good b4 and after

the flow is better and improved low-mid range response

acceleration wise it improved for the top end, hitting 145mph sooner than b4
