Finished Installing Headers

WOW.

What a differnce, this mod was deffinitely the best bang for the buck. I bought a pair of XS headers from SSautochrome. Shipping was extremely fast and everyhing was packed very well.

I guess I got a good set of headers because fitment was perfect, no leaks, and no resonance so far(that I can hear). But, I have to say install was a bitch! Thank god for PB Blaster!!!!!

For all those people questioning buy XS, IMO I would go for it. I am very impressed with the quality and fitment for $120.

Hopefully I can get it dynoed sometime and see what numbers I'm running.

Haven't done that yet....one of these days I'll go and try to re-tighten all the bolts....one of these days lol....

The noise isn't loud only comes at the low rpms for a few seconds so it sounds sorta crappy in stop and go traffic, but once ur going it's smooth and quiet.

this might sound like a dumb question, but how do you know there's resonance? reason why i ask is i just installed a used set of comptechs and when i'm idle and at a dead stop, i can hear a lot of rattling. or is this something else?

Resonance IMO is kinda a deep(rattling) sound. Almost like a rumble it a way. Its hard to explain but thats what I have heard before in other cars. If its rattling try tightening the bolts again? Sometimes they can come loose a little while after installation.

check your cat heatshield, all your bolts, and get under the car and listen to the flex pipe. My flex pipe is causting resonance so I am going to wrap it. Myu cat aslo did, but I just tightened it

thanks for that info. i'll most likely put it on a ramp while the engine's still running to listen to it. how do you wrap your flex pipe, cat, etc.? yourself or shop did it?

I'm sure you can do it yourself. Never done it so I couldn't tell ya.

Someone chime in...

I haven't done it, but I'm sure it isn't hard. I'll search google and youtube before I do it. However my cat heatshield was making noise. The top bolt farthest from the headers was rusted and not holding both side of the heatshields tight. I just bought 2 hose clamps from lowes and tightened them down...no more noises.

I'm 99% sure that the majority of my resonance is coming from my flex pipe, but shitty inner welds also cause resonance...which you can't fix
