If you don't have a Type S, then get a AEM V2.

I'm not able to decipher through the lack of punctuation in your post, so I can't really give any more info.

short ram just gets hot air from engine compartment
CAI goes to front end of car but metal tube absorbs heat,, defeating purpose!

many of us go cheap and remove `intake resonator` that comes out to do a cai-
that opens 2 large holes on bottem of air filter box to gather air from inner fender liner
Use a K&N filter and never have to replace, plus able to process the amount of air now available

here is the diy list- see Resonator Delete https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/new-official-2nd-gen-tl-diy-thread-706083/

Yea, if you want to cheap out somewhere, do it with a CAI. There's not too much difference between a regular (non V2) brand name CAI and one that you can just make yourself.

$50 CAI can work fine, just make sure the filter is good. Also, hope it's an actual CAI that draws from the resonator compartment. I've seen some that kind of just chill next to the battery.

listen to me and many others who went the easy route--
remove the resonator box--same as you have to do to install any cai

put a 50 buck K&N filter in there
done

a short ram metal tube inside the engine compartment is going to HEAT the air-
opposite of the desired result

we are as low as you and more~ the bottem of the airbox sits up higher than the rest of the car would survive in a flood! or 3 foot of water
More likely to damage electronics than suck water thru is what I mean
ck it out in the diy section and see why it makes sense to spend $50 in one place and done
