In dash radio

Thinkin of getting a new indash 7 inch touchsreen radio that plays dvd and blutetoooth and ipod and all that, should I get it? Or is our stock radio for the 2nd gen TL not worth changing? Its gonna be 800 installed for a nice one, includes backup camera installed too, nice set for the money just debating whether to get it. thanks

I have a 7 inch double din and love it. It does what I need it to do, its a good time to run all wires if you plan on doing a aftermarket sub later because you do have to take apart the whole center console.

I plan on getting it professionally installed, and probably wont add any subs or amps, but its pricey adding on factors like steering wheel controls and Bose adaptor

for $800 installed, you should at least get one with navigation.

The ones with navigation arent as nice and will cost more like $1000. I dont really need the navigation. But the $800 includes a really nice backup camera and all the necessary adaptors.

I know right now you dont plan on it but if your getting a aftermarket unit you care somewhat about your system so you will eventually get the bug to get speakers.

Dont know where some of you read some of the things you post as "i read" but thats not true. Our headunit SUCKS. Our speakers SUCK. Our speakers will sound much better with a aftermarket HU, but still not as good as a set of 200 dollar component speakers.

i read it on this forum, but not from an expert so its most likely not true. gotta take everything you read here with a grain of salt i guess.

I'm interested in the backup camera lol. If it hooks up nicely, I'm going to start looking for a JDM spoiler w/color.

I still don't understand how stock Japanese Inspires use the backup camera if the navi doesn't have a composite in.

Not as nice? How is that?

Which brand/model are you buying for $800 installed?

I was originally lookin at the panasonic p3200bt, but then i found the JVC KWavx830. Its better cuz the ipod can be plugged in through the glove box vs sticking out in front, plus a few other better key components. But its like $840 after tax installed, includes unit, bose adaptors, steeringwheel controls, and a backup camera.

Did you shop? A simple Google search resulted in $430- maybe less if you shop.

The price on your link was 430, im paying 550 for the unit, it comes with a free backup camera (valued at around 80 bucks) so yeah your online website would be cheaper by about only 40 bucks, and since im buying it at the local electronic shop if there is any problem with the unit I could just bring it to them vs dealing with internet bullshit, but now im not even sure if I want to spend 800+ on a new radio, Id rather get a lip kit or save the cash!
