Comptech Ice Box

Rajca or anyone else who has purchased a Comptech Ice Box for their 2G TL-S....is there supposed to be raised "Comptech Sport" lettering or a decal on the top of the airbox? I just got mine and put it on this afternoon, but no raised lettering or decal in the box. Just curious which of the two it was.

The old ones used to have it but as far as I know it's been removed from the new batches. I may be wrong though, that's what I believe I heard.

For whatever reason the new production models no longer have the raised lettering. It's kind of odd that they don't even include a sticker or something.

The Comptech ice box is semi-quiet, right? At least more quiet than a CAI?

i had an AEM CAI and then purchased an icebox i felt the difference espicially 2nd. the RPMs climbed a lot quicker. mine also has the raised lettering, i painted it SSM. i defi recommend going with an icebox over a CAI. its quiet while cruising and balls loud when youre in vtec

Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to eventually do...the CAI makes it sound like something is wrong with the car when cruising, especially on cold starts/driving.

Definate Performance Increase

I have to say, I'm quite impressed with the performance (enough to where the absence of a sticker didn't bother me lol). Much meaner growl when you get open it up, and yes it is quieter as far as the usual hiss sound from a AEM, INJEN, etc.. style intake. It's about as loud as the car is when removing the stock resonator from the mix. Also, it feels to me like it's got a little more low end response (before vtec). Well worth the money spent (especially since jiffy lube broke the tabs on my factory airbox before I ever bought the car and it was sucking air in from the sides of the broken airbox lol).

Did you have to trim anything to get the IceBox to fit since you have the OE spacers? I'm considering either the P2R or OE spacers, but wondering about fit with the TB spacer.

Does anyone still have their Icebox instruction? Or can help me out with installation?

I just bought a used one.

Instructions can be found here...

http://www.autocarparts.com/part/143/0/

just click on the instructions tab for a pdf (note this is for the TL-P not the type-S but you can easily navigate to the right part for you once you get to their site)

^ On that site. Just enter the vehicle and select the Icebox for the TL-S. They'll have the pdf for it.
