Question Ceramic Coating...

Got some items in the other day... YAY it's like christmas everytime

1. Brand new CT headers
2. CT SC

Was thinking about getting my headers ceramic coated... you think i should get the SC coated too? would it really make any diff for the SC?

I got the headers done just for the look. I was able to get it done for under $100 and thought it was worth it. Performance wise, you won't notice any gains, but they do look a lot better once they are coated.

I don't know if the chrome plating would withstand the heat of the headers. You can keep them the way they are and you'll be fine. Mine were blueish, which isn't bad, but I didn't like the way they looked. I did do a dyno before and after and got 3 whp, but that can be due to a lot of other things, rather than the header coating.

If they are brand new Comptech headers, do not get them coated. Comptech voids the warranty on them if you do that. Not that they have problems, just not worth the risk.

If you do decide to do it, go with the jet hot coating. I believe it was like $200 to coat everything.

Jet Hot coatings are overpriced if you ask me. I did my research for about 3 months prior to getting my headers done and decided to go with www.moorepower.com. Their price online is a little higher than what they actually charged me. I don't remember if it really was under $100 or not, but it was a lot cheaper than Jet Hot. Jet Hot quoted me $195 for just the headers, then the downpipe was a certain amount per foot depending on the diameter. Moorepower.com did it fast and the quality of it was pretty good. It's been on there for about 1 year, and the coating is holding up fine. Nothing against Jet Hot, but they are way over rated and way overpriced.

They're brand new but i bought them on ebay from some diesel parts store that just happen to be selling it for a friend. Must of not known what he was selling since he listed it for 500 and i bought him out at 600shipped. landed on a sweet deal oh yeah. it's more for cosmetics i would say.. same with coating the SC. but would my headers still be coverd by CT since i bought them from this diesel parts store assuming i didn't coat them?

No warranty since you're not the original owner. For the deal you got, I wouldn't care.
