Can an Intake Filter be too big?

i have a second gen TL and i bought a P2R intake which has a 4" inlet. i wanted to get a fujita filter but the one with a 4" inlet is 10.25 inches long

Sure it can be too big. It can affect low end power.

I seriously doubt it'll help high end power. Removing the intake resonator, plus a K+N should be more than enough.

Are you sure the 10" long filer would fit at the end of your CAI pipe? Or were you planning to secure it higher on the pipe?

Are you dead set on Fujita? Because AEM makes the dry flow in 4" x 5" long.

Yea that sucks. Biggest adapter they have is an 85mm inlet.
http://www.apexi-usa.com/products/?i...set=17330&rsku

Fujita looks like it has the same design and filter fiber as apexi.
BTW that intake was it special order? i can't seem to find it on P2R's site. Wanted to see how it performed.

Thanks. Picture on site looks different from that one above.
Wonder if it fits the TL-S TB. Such a massive pipe, wonder how well it performs.
You could try a shorter K&N cone with a velocity stack

its only for type S's. CL and TL have the same TB and engine bay, and there's a dyno. Look up threads by slickshiftnall6. If I wasn't typing this on my phone I'd give you the link and post dyno charts and whatnot

a bigger filter would proably help the power, because it would be less of a restriction for the motor to breath (till it gets dirty of course,
but the biggest advantage to a bigger filter is the fact that you can go longer between cleanings/replacing because there is more filter media to hold the dirt, and still allow it to flow the required airflow to the engine
