AV6 Comptech Supercharger

I searched, but didn't exactly find what I was looking for.

If I wanted to put an AV6 Accord Supercharger on my TL, would I want the 98-99 version or 00-02 version if I have a 2000 TL. Don't the 00-02 version AV6 accords have a VSA option? So that means I would want a 98-99 AV6 Supercharger since the TL-p and 98-99 Accords dont have VSA?

Or am I talking out of my ass. Someone guide me in the right direction. I'm aware of the necessary changes required to get this thing on, but just want to know which year supercharger I should get (if it even matters).

Not sure...what I have is a TLS SC. I needed to get a new elbow ($32) and that was pretty much it. I think the accord SC will work...as to which one, what are the differences between the two units?

Im not really sure what the differences are, but since there are 2 made for the different years, there has to be something different.

I read somewhere that you would run into more problems putting in a TLS SC onto a TL-p since the TLS has VSA and the TL-p doesn't. It fits, but would throw some codes and problems. Unless I read wrong.

not sure where you got that from...the ESM units are the same, and so are the blowers; so I dont see where the difference would arise. As far as the vsa issue, that doesnt really make much of a difference...the only thing you need is a new plastic elbow to replace the metal one. It was like $32.

Today when I was thinking about what the differences could be, one thing definately popped out in my head. You need to see what the size of the intake holes are for the accords, and make sure they match the TLP ones. What I did was change over to the TLS TB/IM which eliminated that issue. The main problem that people who had CLP/TLP's boosted was that they were facing was a loss of boost due to the elbows not sitting at the proper height and lining up incorrectly. This is because the type S IM sits a tad bit higher than the TLP IM. In order to solve that issue I swapped on those parts. Later on, it dawned on me that I could have also PROBABLY solved that problem by running the IM spacers, because that raises the TLP IM to the same height of the type S one, however Im not sure that would have worked 100%. Hell, Im not even sure that swapped the parts like I did will work 100% bc the blower isnt on yet. Now, Im not sure that the accord SC/SC mounts were designed with the lower IM height in mind..so that might be something to look out for...good luck

well, if you check out the instructions from comptech, the 98-02 installation is the same for all years, more or less. and the parts list is the same so it should work just fine. you will have to purchase the VSA elbow from comptech. there may be one or two other differences but comptech will be more than happy to take your money to sell you the additional pieces you would need (i.e. - a new FPR and some bolts).

Thanks for your input guys.

I think I found out the main difference though. The 98-99 AV6 accord has a distributor, so I guess something is different in the supercharger. The 00-02 AV6 Accord has direct ignition.. But how that makes the supercharger different I have no idea. Anyone have a clue, it may look like that I can't get the charger i'm looking at (98-99)..

i don't think there is any real difference. based on the installation instructions it should be about the same. it doesn't even look like it mounts any differently. the main difference i saw was the changing of the vaccum lines for the 98-99 accord. the 00-02 accord did not need that changed. you might want to thumb through the installation PDF and double check me but i think that's really it.

Hmm, yeah I see that. I think im gonna call comptech and see what they say. Maybe its just a sales technique where they add a few parts to the 00-02 to get more bucks.

it should be the same unless there is some sort of major engine difference between the 99 and 00 models (i'm honestly unsure if there is but i would imagine the answer is "no").

I would say it would fit. It may just be something like a fuel pressure regulator or elbow that would be different ??

I think I might have found the answer..

The only thing different about the two kits is the sub kits.

The 98-99 has a different fuel line and another vacuum line.
fuel line: -6 45*to -6 90* x 24" #: 816-013
Vac. line: T/B to air assist vacuum line 3.5mm x 20" #: 811-002 20"

00-02
fuel line: -6 90* to -6 90* x 12" #: 816-014

It basically has to do with the stock FPR being under the IM for the 98-99 model and next to it in the 00-02 models.

i'm sure it's gonna fit. and they techs know, they were just too lazy to tell you. get it and bolt it up. then you'll see what parts you need to finish

i'm pretty sure the fpr doesn't change. did you get a price from them for the vsa elbow by chance?
