I used window tint. My friend hooked me up. He only uses 3m, but I dont think 3m makes red tint. It was way hard to do. I recommend using a heat gun and not your wifes hairdryer.

Call around to your local shops. Who knows they may even have some scraps for free.

Arrow or.....................

u could of taken them apart and tinted the reflective strip between the brake lights and blinker black and the changed the amber to red with transparent paint...............we decided to keep the amber cause it already looked badass!

did you put the 3m tint on the outside of the tailights? If so how would it stand up in the rain? I was thinking of doing that to my tails but I'm not sure if the tint would hold up in the rain or when I wash the car.

Looks good, although I think you should have masked off your reverse lights as now they're red.....

it does look really nice. but i have to agree with Dai, how does it light up when you put your car into reverse?

and i got the same question as everyone else, how did you tint it? there's a place i know to get colored tints in my neighborhood, but i want to know how to do this first before i grab a sheet.

Yeah I was thinking the same exact thing. I redded out my tails too but I used a razor and cut out the reverse light area.

This is what mine ended up looking like:

The red isn't a 100% perfect match but most of the time you can't tell unless you're standing real close to it. It looks kind of odd in this picture because the light is hitting it differently.

Yeah in this picture you can tell...The right side tail light looks like it fits in just fine, but like he said, with the light hitting the left tail it does look unnatural

Yeah I thought of that but the all red look is what I wanted. But when Im in reverse the color is red, I'll just have to back into parking space's from now on. but I think that it looks clean.

Yup its on the outside. 1 hr. after I did it, I washed my car and had no problems. as for rain I imagine it'll hold up fine. I figure for no $ and 30 min. of my time its a good mod.

It's way easy , just take your time. Im not a pro but this worked for me.
Clean your taillight first....

1. spray soapy water onto amber section. then apply tint (without removing backing) just to measure it.

2. Cut off excess material with blade or exacto knife. leave 1/4 of an inch beyond taillight. If you want you can cut reverse light section out. ( I didnt)

3. while tint is on taillight and you have done all the cutting use a blowdryer (what I used) or a heat gun to curve the tint and form it to your light. use a hand towel to smooth it out while heating tint. it will mold to the shape of your light. that curve is hard to apply tint to, unless you heat it up.

4. take tint off. apply alot of soapy water, take backing off tint, apply tint to taillight. use the bottom of amber section to guide the tint. Let it sit on there for 2-3 mins. smoothout with towel. (To get bubbles out)

5. Take your blowdryer and heat tint while on taillight and try to smooth out the curvy part of tail. Thats it.

DISCLAIMER: If it doesnt work , Dont blame me.

Liqice is the one who inspired me to redout my tails. I think he used vinyl film (tint). not spray. He did it on top of 02' tails which makes it easier to cut out reverse light, but I have 00' lights so the reverse light is surrounded by amber. (I went the easier route)

Its vinyl film. Not exactly the same as tint, but its meant to handle the weather and stuff outside. It is applied the same way as tint though, you clean the outside of the light as best as possible with alcohol or whatever and then apply the film and cut it the way you want with a razor blade.

Here's another picture where the red looks more natural...

Like I said, under normal circumstances you can never tell that the red isn't a perfect match unless you go right up to the car and inspect it.

TL_Fo_Life - Yours looks good, I wanted to go full red too, but I don't think I can pass safety inspection with the reverse lights redded out. If they check for that in your state you will most likely fail safety inspection too unless you know somebody

I originally was going to go with a blacked out turn signal, but it looked weird since it wasn't very dark even with 20% 3m vinyl "tint".

Off topic, not to hijack the thread, but what springs did you use to lower your TL? I like the height, not too low where you look like you're gonna bottomout on a bump and not as high as the stock. After you respond, y'all can resume the tinted taillights talk.

PS. I vote no on the red tint. I'm gonna put in clear LED lights that blink yellow so the blinker will look all white when not on.

I have Tein SS coilovers. So the ride is height adjustable. I have mine lowered roughly 1.75" all around..

Thanks. Are the whellwell gaps over the tires the same front and back or is the front a little higher than the back?

This should give you a good idea ...

Like I said, its height adjustable, so you can change the height to whatever you want.

Mine are fairly even, but because the wheel wells themselves are not exactly in the same.

Sorry to load up this thread with so many pictures.

I bought them from blxmgc I think thats his name here. He's a site sponsor and he does group buys on the Tein SS's every once in awhile. I didn't do the install myself, its kindof difficult and w/o all the tools that a shop has it would take me more than one day and when I got the coilovers installed it was my primary car so I didn't want to be down for more than a day. Actually, even when I had the Acura dealer install them it was down for about 2 days but I got a loaner.

Well, I was doing the coilovers, EDFC, swaybars, and comptech icebox. The EDFC is what took the longest I think since they had to pull apart the interior and run the wires. They did a really nice job on the wiring though.

I'm also guessing my car didn't just go up on the lift and get installed right away though ...
