wire question

i`m wondering.. is it possible to find the 12V Switched wire anywhere else other than behind the headunit? because i`m trying to install something that requires the 12V Switched but i don`t want to have to pull out my headunit just to get to the 12V Switched wire behind the headunit, because taking off the headunit itself is already a big hassle.. i own a `99 TL-P.. also what color would the 12V Switched wire be?

Try the fuse box. I think the fuse to the windshield wiper is switched. That's where I tapped in for my radar detector.

dunno if the 99 has seat heaters, that's a good place to go. my cigarette lighter (power port) is only on when the car is on. that may also be a good place. the sunroof and power windows are also good places.

You can tap into the 12v constant or the ignition switch underneath the dash. I taped into it to install my alarm.

Do yourself a favor and go buy a service manual. It is well worth the investment.

alright.. what i`m trying to install is the footwell neon lighting.. but the thing is i don`t want it to fade away along with the dome light.. i want it to stay on when i turn on the car.. so basically what i`m looking for is the 12V switched wires.. positive and negative.. i`ve went thru the to fuse boxes, driver side and passenger side.. i read about the footwell neon lighting that fades with the dome light, and i did it and it works, but i want the neon light to stay on.. what i`m wondering is that, can the 12V switched wires be found where the fuse boxes are (driver and pass.), if yes, which colors are which (positive, negative)? thanks in advance for any help.. and yes, i am planning to get the service manual from helminc.com.. don`t flame me please, i`m a car newbie..

It might be easier getting one of those "add a fuse" thingees. It plugs into a stock fuse location, retaining the stock fuse and circuit and adds an extra fuse to run wires to. Then you can just pick any switched 12V fuse at the fusebox.

where can i get one of these add a fuse thing.. and is there a tutorial anywhere where it`ll help me out with it? n i just came up on a thought, if the headlight wires are behind the fuse boxes (driver or pass.) then can i just tap the neon wire into that so whenever i turn on my headlights, the neons turn on?
