Put 10000k HIDs in today

I got my 10000k hids in the mail today. I was excited to get em in and on. Install was a peice of cake. I did one and then turned the lights on to compare the stock and the new blub, biggg difference. The 10000k is like a violet bluish. very good looking. And they light up the road way different at night, i love it.

Yup, they light it up differently all right, you just cut your light output, and road illumination significantly; so you are actually seeing less than you did before.

Yeahhhhhhhhh

I gotta admit... 10000k is pretty as hell... but beyond 6000k... you are reducing light since 4300k(OEM) is true sunlight... the higher the Kelvin temp beyond 4300k... the lower light output you have.

It is not the bulb that makes the E55 HID look "better" (for lack of a better word), but the HID optics instead. 2nd gen TL's have reflector HID setups, as opposed to projector HID as in the E55 and the 3rd gen TLs.

Most newer cars that come with HID use projector setups; they are inherently better in terms of output than reflector HID.

ALL STOCK HID'S ARE RATED AT +/- 4000K. the difference is in the housing. the ones with projectors are more white/blue.

Exactly. You think it looks blue... but in fact it's still the same stock bulb. To prove it's optic... look in your mirror and the next time you see it... notice it changes color from white to purple depending on your angle.

Hey black shadow. looks great. Are you going to change your fogs anytime soon? cuz I know a 10000k HID kit for your fogs if you want it. Fellow v6p member trying to sell it for $400 o.b.o. Thought you'd be interested if you planned to get them to match. Meanwhile I await my 6000k headlights and 6000k fog kit(due this week or next). Sick a$$ lights tho.

Seeing 10000k in real life... it's sweet especially with the blue undercar neon kit. Check out my album and see the 10000k's + neon kit in my Bonfire Meet in SF.

Love the pics of the 10k, however, the link below shows an example of the different levels, Non-HID, 4300, 6300, 8000, and 10000. The 10k seems to be more violet, according to this link, however your pics of the 10k really look more like 8k on this site. Is it an optical illusion, difference in projection or reflection, or something entirely different?

http://www.hidexpress.com/

Just interested...trying to determine how I am going to change mine. Thanks for the help...

Okay... let's number pictures 1-5 from left to right.

Picture 1 is self explanitory ... Picture 2 looks nothing like 4300k, looks more 6000kish to me. I know in real life... 8000k looks like picture 3... 10000k is picture 4... and picture 5 i don't wanna know.

IMO i think the camera setting was wrong. The optical differnece of 4300k in a projector looks like picture 2 only at certain angles.

That blue makes it look like those knock-offs you see on beat-up civics or cavaliers.
some folks like that, I suppose.

Newer cars use projector instead of reflector (like the 99-03 tl's) since they control beam pattern and can use a smaller headlamp housing. The projector lense creates a prism effect sometimes that alters the appearance. Even Hyundais have these now, and often times I think they are Xenons, until they get closer, then you notice they are regular hologens. Its all about the optics - nothing to do with the bulbs.

You are correct. I bought the Value front bumper (which is sold in Japan only) and it costs a shitload of $$$. But it is worth every penny.

I was waiting for this comment. Have you actually seen a 10K on a 99 TL in person yet? If not, I suggest you don't knock it until you see it in person. It does not look anything like those knock-offs.

Yea it is illegal in NJ and I believe in every other state too. But I guess it depends on the cop's mood.

Looks like the cheap blue knock-off "HID" halogen bulbs you can buy for $20 at Pep-Boys that every civic out there has.

The stock bulbs are the most white light you are going to get. Anything above that starts turning blue.

He said $400 Shipped to anywhere in U.S. These again are 10000k 9006/HB4 bulbs for your stock fog housing.

Oh and just so you know, these are for the stock headlamp housings, not the fog housings. At least get your bulbs in the correct locations.
