Window Tinting?

What is this Llumar tinting thing? I saw this on another board. Is it more expensive than regular tinting and what is the difference?

My experience has been that technique is more important than the film, within reason. Go with a reputable company that you can trust and you will be okay. Most important in my opinion is going to be friends' experience. The proof is in th pudding.

A lot of the higher end tint places use Lumar film b/c of their guarentees. If you get the high performance film (highly recomended) you are getting a film that is not supposed to fade as quickly as regular tint. I can vouge for this b/c my previos car had both kinds of tint on it...the first tint was regular tint & in 4 years it was purple...when I had it retinted b/c someone broke into the car I used the high performance tint and to this day it is still perfect...this November will be 3 years.

Llumar is one of the highest quality films you can put on a car. Application is obviously very important. Be sure the installtion will be done well.. I drove a Z-28 114K miles with Llumar titanium tint and I never had a single bubble or problem.. I will say that it shot my am radio reception and I would imagine it will affect your navigation system if you choose a metallic tint.. I definitely will not have my new Tl=type S tinted even considering the hot, hot, hot Texas Summers.. I am very pleased with everything on my new Tl-S other than the crappy Bose system. It't the pits!!

Hey wv5b - go ahead and get your TL-S tinted if you want. I got mine tinted with 35% film and have had no problems with radio or nav system. I don't think my tint is metallic - but could be wrong.

Llumar tint

Guys--I had mine tinted using that film in Florida on a visit with my Mom there. I figured that as every car has it down there they'd be expert, the shop was recommmended highly and they are competitive. I got mine done for $139.95 and it is 35% and nice. I thought to email American Honda who said DONT DO THE BACKGLASS with metallic tint. (Old stuff used to not contain heat refracting metallic elements) To do this would interfer with the Navi system. I showed that email and the shop said no problem,"we'll use non-metallic tint on the back glass." I haven't had any Navi problems or radio problems either and I have the good stuff on the sides. It would have been way over$245.00 to do this job here in DC area I'm sure from talking with friends.
