I have 20% mirror tint all around. Looks good, but when Im driving and trying to look out the window I see my own reflection which sometimes gets annoying.

I have 35% "high performance" Sun-Gard charcoal tint all around on my silver/black TL, and it looks fine. If you have a black interior it will look plenty dark and reflect naturally without needing any mirroring film (which will attract cops), and you won't have trouble seeing out at night.
20% can be pretty bad in an outdoor parking lot at night, and forget 5%, you won't see a thing at night. Do you want to be one of those schmoes who drive around with their windows half rolled down so they can see at an intersection? Leave that for the back windows at best.
One thing I've noticed is that at night, the headlights from cars coming through my back window reflect slightly from the defogger filaments so that I get a sort of bar pattern. Has anybody else experienced this?

It all depends on the color of the car.
I got %51 all around on my BLACK/EBONY TL.
I only did this because of stupid DC. laws.
I would have gone %35 all around.
But %35 would look good on most cars & TL has the green glass anyway. The glass will make it darker with the tint.

i agree with putting 5% only on the back and rear windows BUT i did have 5% on my front and the easiest way to see at nite is if you see headlights, then you know there's a car. if the person has his headlights off at nite and you get into an accident, then you can blame it on him since his headlights were off. crappy way to justify 5% but eh, what are you gonna do????

I have an appointment for next Sat, quoted me $149.00. Want 20%, but don't want to run the risk of a cop making me peel it off the back (and the defroster coming off). I guess I'm stuck with 35%.

thanks Donte99TL. that really answers my most important question. I'll probably just avoid metallic all together.
now for the next question. can anyone recommend a non-metallic type of tint. i want to know as much as possible before i go in to get the work done. i know i want 35%.

When you guys say 35% all around, is that all 5 windows? Cuz that would be nice.
How much would I expect to pay for that?

32% all around on Taffetta White w/ Parchment interior looks nice, because that is what I have . No, seriously, because of the light interior, it gives the windows a smoked look!! I was going to go 35% but my buddy put on the wrong tint!! Oh well.
