will removing resonator screw with flow
will removing resonator screw with flow
will it cause me to loose power or gain a couple ponies. I dont want to loose any low end torque. And i am talking about the large resonator.
I took mine off yesterday and I have not noticed a decreased in low end torque. If anything I noticed a slightly free flow in exhaust (maybe my lead foot is biased). I have a short air ram and I do notice at higher rpm it sounds better. I do have stock mufflers. I took out the 1/2 muffler size resonator. I am thinking of removing the small (2 liter coke size) one as well. There is no rumbling at idle. The car sits quiet.
If you remove the resonator you will have to reroute the air flow unless you want it sucking the air from behind the splash guard, which is no big deal. You will get some gain, as the resonator restricts air flow, and it brings it in from the engine bay through a tiny-ass hole. But you should get a K&N filter to allow the higher airflow as after you remove it, it will be coming right through the 3" hole at the bottom of the airbox. After the K&N is when you will notice the difference.

are you talking the exhaust resonator or the factory intake resonator? if its the exhaust i would say remove both if you are runninf factory exhaust. im not really sure why the have them on there there is hardly a sound difference with them off (a lil deaper sound) now if you have the comptech exhaust i would recomend just taking off the small (2 litre coke bottle size) because the resonance is REALLY BAD! i just ordered the silent tip inserts to see if they help, but i have noticed the mid to redline power is alot better with the comptech no resonator combo.

There are 3 resonators. 1 intake resonator that sits under the airfilter box, 1 exhaust resonator that is a 2 liter coke bottle size I mentioned and 1 resonator that looks like a 1/2 size muffler before the Y pipe. The question is regarding the larger of the 2 'exhaust' resonator.

like i said before removal of the larger (looks like a small muffler) wont hurt any thing, it will free up your exhaust flow (which is a good thing. if you are running a factory exhaust you will be fine, if you are running hks or comptech it will be loud
