will the 00 and up engine fit in a 99 tl with a 4 speed tranny? or will i have to change out the 4 speed to the 5 speed tranny for it to work?

I know there would be great effort in installing a 5 speed- the shifter console isnt built for it and the computer is 4 speed

You could drop an entire assembly in like the guys with the 6 speed & CLS motor
with appropriate wiring harness

whats up- you get bad news on the trans?

I thought the TL-P engine was the same from 99 to 03. Different transmission, ECU etc, but isn't it the same engine?

the motor will bolt up just fine. But the problem lies in the ECU. The 99 has slightly different cam timing for vtec that i dont think will work well with the 00-03 motor very well??

it will work. you wont have any codes either. just dont go putting a 5 speed tranny in.

but the tl-p engine will fit and function in a 99. only issue you will have is getting your temp guage to work. you will have to tap the thermostat housing to place your temp sensor. (i just used a t in the hoses)

ok so i could put a 00 and up tlp engine into my 99 using the 4 speed trany and the 99 ecu and it will work correctly right? the only issue is the temp gauge?
