Where can I get claybar
Well...after a long trip those pesky bug and dirt sticks really hard. What I want is to claybar it. But I don't see it in stores except one at pepboys that comes in a kit. It's kinda expensive. Where can I just buy the claybar and wetting solution without the rest of the crap. Preferable from the store...I hate to wait for mailorder.

The claybar is the Sh!t!! It was awesome!! I bought the Mothers one cuz I couln't find the Meguiar's one. It was a little more about $11.
Its worth getting no matter where you get it from. I got carried away and clayed my mom's 95 Camary too cuz I wanted to see what it could do to older paint. Works good too.

I haven't used one.. but its like this ::clay:: type substance... you roll it knead it, rub it over the paint after spraying the solution.. it removes bugs, tar, and contaminants/dirt that are really sorta stuck on that regular washing isnt removing... its often done before a major good wax job so you remove contaminants and are less prone to scratch the paint.

i bought mine at Autozone, the meguiar's stuff. However, Zaino sells the clay bar also, but I do not know the difference amongst all the clay bars though, if there is a difference at all.

I got mine from a detailer, I think it's called Granite, they're a little more expensive but it's lasted about 3 times as long as the Meguiars and it's a lot smoother (not so gritty) compared the Meguiars. I use it with the Meguiars Professional Quick Detailer. One thing I bet you didn't think it was good for, and that's windows. Use a small piece with Windex (lots of Windex), and it'll take anything off that window (including HEAVY waterspots). Anyhow, try a little piece next time you clean those windows. BTW, a good way to keep the bar from drying out is to wrap it in plastic food wrap.

I think I might have seen the Maguire one in a kit. But that claybar is about the size of two eraser bar. Will that actually cover the whole car? I don't wanna run out in the middle of doing it. I thought claybars are bigger than that, maybe the size of a stick of butter or something? I haven't done it before so I don't know. After the claybar I'm going to get that Lanka stuff and some touchup paint and cover a few paint chips I got also.

I got my claybar from www.autodetail.com
it was a little more expensive, but it is a pretty large bar, and is very smooth. It should last for quite a while. I used it with Meguiars quick detailer. It worked awesome!

VTEC Animal, I'll have to try that thing with the windows next this weekend to get rid of those waterspots.
I used mine on my fiancee's Monte cuz I got so wrapped up in it. I used it on her windows, mirrors, even the headlights.
Her car looks brand new, but the clay was turning brown every 30 seconds.
I used half the bar for my car and that was overkill. So I used a quarter for her whole car and the thing has just a little more room.

ask PhiTL about his clayjob today
We used Zaino.. the Zaino clay is a much softer texture and pulls easily and kneads easily... some of the other brands I have experimented with tends to get all hard and gets all over your fingers and stuff....
Hail Zaino!

Yeah, the Zaino bros clay bar was awesome. Really easy to work with, even with a jammed right thumb I was able to work the clay. Highly recommended.
I forgot to do the roof and the difference between the roof and the rest of the car is night and day!! Second coat of zaino polish going on Saturday

question. before applying the claybar....would you wash the car, like spray with water? or do you use the claybar was you are washing it? would you just wash with the soap and claybar? then would you remove the old wax and stuff before applying the new stuff like wax? (thinking of getting the zymol wax) thanx
