Wheel Lock

My stupid dealer didn't give me the key for the wheel lock when I purchased the car plus stupid me forgot to ask him as well. Now I called him back and he said he doesn't have to key neither, do you guys think bringing the car in to acura dealership may help?or any other way instead of 'break the lock' (the car still has 2 weeks warrantly). Thanks.

McGard wheel locks have a code number assigned to the pattern used for your lug nuts. That's how you can order a duplicate at a modest price. Does the dumbass dealer have that paper with the wheel lock number printed on it?

Take the car back to Acura. They have a master set of locks. They will tell you which color to order (McGard assigns colors to each lock).

I believe they are $10 ordered directly from www.McGard.com

I stopped using McGard. Mine broke off while I was hand tightening them. I had to take the car to a specialist shop to drill out the broken bit. I use Gorilla wheels locks now. Way stronger.

I took the car to Acura dealership and they said they don't have a master key for the wheel lock. The way they do it is break the original lock and replace the new one for me. They charge $160. I said No and left right away. I think they are trying to rip me off.

That's bullshit. Call Acura Customer Care and tell them that. Or call another dealer.

Only if your sure your not gonna touch the rim with the chisel. That aluminum is softer than the wheel lock.

tom-thanks for tip. ill be extra careful not to run off of the locks if i try it.

lipstuff-lol funny story today, my friend has those lock lugs for his car then i saw my mom had them too and they looked they same. then i told him i bet his key would work on my moms, and they did! lol. so much for so called special key lugs. but no, the dealership ones are perfectly cylindrical with a laser cut squiggly shape into them .

Yes. 160 is exactly bull shit to me. I am not sure I can do this, but the acura dealership that I went is

2729 Nostrand Ave
Brooklyn, New York
2729 Nostrand Ave

It seems like New York City doesn't really have a good acura dealership at all.

Paragon Acura/Honda is the most famous rip off acura dealership , and now the one in brooklyn is also like this.

I will call the customer service and let you guys know the update. Thanks.

To LIPPSTUH

Yes, is the 5-star key. Do you mean you have the master one? Cuz I believe each set of wheel lock has it own key.

I checked with other auto shop. They charge 20 dollar for breaking the original one and replace the new one. It sounds reasonable to me, do you guys think so?

Does that include putting in a new stud if they bugger it up?

sorry, I am not sure what you are asking. I assume 20 means either (break the original one, replace a new one and new key for me, or they got a master key to open it up for me)

Is this what you meant?? I'm not being critical or anything, just clarifying what you mean.

If you can, head out to an Acurazine meet, and see if people have the wheel locks that match. It's a lot easier and cheaper than hunting it down or breaking em.

Or try going to a wheel shop and see if they have a key for it. Working with the Dealer is a waste of time.
