What color for calipers?
What color for calipers?
Ok there are four different colors that I am looking at for my calipers:
Blue
Silver
Black
Yellow
I cant really find the blue anywhere but those other three i can. I want to get your guys opinions on what you think will look good. I'm getting the caliper kit that comes with the paint in the can and the brush since i can only find chrysler orange in a spray can
And which ever caliper paint I go with my engine cover will be the same color im thinking.
Thanks

- Never used them, but have seen links for them in threads from time-to-time.http://www.paintworldinc.com/default.aspx
I've got an ABP TLS, and the center of the spoke wheels on it are real small-shows a lot of rotor hub and caliper through the wheels. All that stuff was real rusty looking too, making look even worse.
I painted the center of the rotors and the caliper and brackets with anodized blue caliper paint I found at Auto Zone. The anodized blue does not match ABP, but is pretty close. I get a fair amount of comments about it, a lot people really seem to like it. Other than the ICW 10 spoke wheels, car is completely stock. I may get tired of it and go back with gloss black.

idk.. i agree on alot of things when it comes to rice...
but i have to disagree on caliper paint being rice. every type of car enthusiast practices this. from honda civics to old school hot rods.
sure it would be cool to have brembo brakes on all of my cars. but if somebody pays for brembo brakes on any car thats not running road courses at a competitive level, they are the ones looking like fools on the road.
factory brakes or not, painting nasty ass grimey calipers makes the appearance of the wheel area on the car look much nicer. even with a black finish.
its a lose lose world here sometimes... one guy powdercoats all of his factory engine bay parts and thats cool. next guy gets his calipers painted, and hes rice.
if you stick a brush between your spokes and paint your calipers.. ok your kinna ricey.. but if you remove them, clean them, make nice even coats and try to keep them semi-clean.. theres nothing cheap or rice about that.. i did car shows for about 3 years when i was younger, i can promise some of those guys could buy small shares of brembo brakes, but preferred to paint the stockies any day of the week.
idk.. sorry about the rant.

i don't think red is ricey, with the right car color and mods it looks really nice. like CJITTY's
but blue is another story...its alot harder to make blue calipers look good

blue would look best on neutral colors... black, dark grey etc:
or if you were able to paint them Factory blue to match your abp that would be sweet.
idk if you could get high heat factory paint though

I was thinking about going Blue actually...I have an AM but I think Black will prevail here as I'm blacking out the heads and tails..All in personal choice, as long as you don't do something crazy like yellow or green.
i used shows as an example that there isnt a specific crowd that does this.
anyone can paint calipers.. even the guys who drop 20k on their cars in mods.
your right... red calipers on a stock TL is kind of dumb.. but alot of people here are far from stock, if not, enough to pull something off as small as painted brake calipers... which really only requires wheels and a drop.

Hell, half the posts on here get derailed into somebody talking about blacking out their headlight housing or some shit......JMO
