Angry Went to the Dyno today

Well I took my A-Spec to the Dyno and I am pissed at the numbers I got. I never did a baseline on my car with no bolt-ons, so I used the numbers that are on AEM website.200.2HP and 186.4TQ. Currently on my car I have what is in my sig. Well after three runs my whp is 202.8@5950rpm and wtq is 193@4876rpm. I was expecting at least 210 whp. Has anyonelse with the same set up gotten these numbers?

where did you get your car dynoed at?

I wouldn't mind having mine done...

A stock type S should be in the 210 - 220 range... There is either something wrong with your car or the dyno....

I was thinking the same thing. 202 seems rather low!
go somewhere else to get another dyno!

Are dynos more accurate now or what. The comparison from one dyno to another used to have considerable differences. A 5% variation was nothing. Tempetures and humidity can make a big difference too, and need to be adjusted for.

weather can have a huge affect on the #'s you would need to find out if they have any correction factors involved in those #'s

Is your area currently using oxygenated fuel for the winter months? That'll cost you a few ponies, too.

And as previously mentioned, it's tough to compare raw numbers from one dyno to another.

agreed: 200-205whp is tops for stock... tq is right where it should be too ... don't sweat it .. get some headers, a crank pulley, and the exhaust and you'll be at 230-240whp with a little over 200wtq

Techron is an additives package that has no real effect on performance.
Here in the US, virtually all Northern cities sell gas with Ethanol or MTBE in it, to reduce emissions in cold climates. Both of these have lower energy content than "straight-up" gasoline, which is why most people typically lose 10-15% fuel mileage in the winter (once different driving habits are factored out). The same reason causes a slight loss of peak power, as well.

This is why I bring this up.

Oh, and what gear did you do the pull in? That will affect peak HP too (lower gears will reduce peak HP figures).

make sure u dynoed in 3rd gear. alos, the aem tru power pulley have been noted to not do sh!t. switch those for the UR pullies and you should see some gains. also, make sure the VSA is off.

Your note about gas makes sense I use the 94 octane that might be why the hp was low outside temp was 60F. I dynoed in 3rd gear with VSA off

AEM pullies don't help power! Stock type-Ss typically dyno between 195 and 200 fwhp....I don't think any have been above 202 stock. Personally it sounds like you got decent gains from the intake so I wouldn't be too worried. weather makes a huge difference also (ie its cold now so the car will be stronger than if driven during the summer). Torque actually looks pretty good.

Anyone who is saying that a stock TLS dyno should be above 208 HP is blowing smoke up yer ass. Theoretical MINIMUM HP loss due to the auto tranny is %20. One of the highest stock dyno's I've seen puts out only 206. Even if HP stays the same, but you got more torque out of it, you should be happy.
