Weird buzzing noise when backing out.
Hey all,
I'm not sure if I should be worried by this or not. When I first start up my car, I let it sit for a minute or so. I then put the car into reverse. While I'm backing out, I hear this low buzzing noise and feel a low-level vibration. It lasts for about a second. After I put the car into D5, when I step on the accelerator, it does it again for about a second. Should I be worried? Or is this just because the car is still warming up?

I just wish Acura salesmen would tell new owners about it. We've had this question asked here once a week for as long as I can remember. I bet there are a bunch of annoyed TL owners out there thinking there's something seriously wrong with their car.

The TL-S was designed with a passenger side mirror that shifts angles when you go into reverse, so that you can see the curb or anything on the ground, to avoid hitting anything lower or out of sight.
Once you put the car back into gear, the mirror reverses itself to the normal position. That is the buzz you are hearing.

Low vibrations!!!
Yeah I have had this feeling in my car for a whilez too.. but i figured it all out.. U gotta warm up ur car for a couple mins...wait till temp goes up or something but a few mins will do.. then when you put it into gear, there wont be anymore vibrations.. maynot be temp or seomthign .. but i just know u gotta wait a few mins ...hope this may be of some help:p
I dunno about you guys but even with my slight loss of hearing due to years of riding my motorcycle without earplugs I can clearly distinguish between the ABS buzzing noise and the whirring noise of the passenger mirror tilting when the tranny is in reverse. IOW--just based on the sound alone it isn't at all difficult to determine if the noise is the ABS check or the side mirror tilting, other sound sources notwithstanding.

It's probably the ABS checks. In this very old thread, I guess no one read the car manual

One buzz at 5 mph, one buzz at 15 mph. Whether you're going in reverse or in drive, once you hit those intervals for the first time, it will buzz.
