Water Spots!!!

Does anyone know a good cleaner that will remove water spots? My parking space is unfortunatly outside and next to a sprinkler. I have a blue TL so it gets waterspots real bad. Sometimes even washing it won't take them off and only seriously scrubing it will take the water spots off. It's very frustrating.

Is there a soap or brush that will take off the spots easier? Is there a limit on the abrasiveness of a brush to take off the water spots. I usually use just water and towels to wash my baby. It's never even looked at a car wash let alone been inside one. These water spots look horrible though! I want to break the sprinkler head.

Any help will be great!

One of the best things for removing water spots is a little white vineger diluted with water. It is completely harmless to the finish and does an awesome job removing waterspots. If they are a little tougher than that, BoatUS sells a water spot remover that I have used on my boat and it also works really well. You can get it at any Boat US store or online at www.boatus.com.

Cheers!

vinegar

you can use distilled vinegar off the shelf from the supermarket. The spots are mineral deposits left from the water. The best defense (once you get them out) is a really good detail on the car - the wax or sealant should provide a good defense against the mineral deposits or at least make them easier to remove. If you can keep a bottle of quick detailer in the car and some microfiber towels. When you come out from work and see it's been sprayed you can do a QD on it and that should get most if not all off of the car.

Also if you can't get them out check out autotopia.com they have some good guides on getting out things like that.

A little super glue on top of that sprinkler head goes a long way!

Did you try clay-barring it yet. I haven't had that problem yet but it is a thought.

I take it using the vinegar/water mix won't damage the paint? I have water spots all over my windows/hood. Every day I try and run over the sprinkler. Also, is there a commercial product that works too?

wipe it on

wipe it off then mist with water..any commercial product will be the exact same thing a mild acidic compound to deteriorate the hardened mineral depost.

This happened to my wife's 99 emerald green TL and was so bad it had to be professionally detailed.... The whole front clip was white I had nothing that would even touch it .... Her company paid for it and needless to say, she parks away from the sprinklers now....

Personally, I could never get water spots out with clay; I've always used Scratch-X when I do my annual scratch/swirl removal to remove them.

Since, You don`t want to go the super glue route.
Try Zymol, Detailing mist, it takes water spots right off!

contact your property management and let them know about the problem.. i park under an acorn tree and you can imagine what happened. after the first fall i parked there and 4 dings on my hood later i told my prop. manager about my problem and this past summer they had the tree guys out there trimming all the trees back behind the parking line.

if dialogue doesn't solve your problem then you can resort to other means.
