Viper C302 or V1?

Hey all,

I'm in the process of buying a radar detector. I recently got a speeding ticket. Got caught in the speed trap. It sucks, I got pull over w/ another car and 10 min later, I saw two more cars getting pull over. From my research, I see people really liking the V1. I saw the new viper C302 on ebay. It look very similar to the V1 and the manufacturer even will pay for any tickets I get within the 1st year. Good deals?

thx

Don't go for that Rocky Mountain crap.

Either the V1 or 8500.

V1...

i have one for each of my cars

they work wonders and as you might know, if Valentine makes any advances in their technology, you can send it to them and they will upgrade it for you (for a small fee of course) but i have upgraded on one of mine and they are great

just my $.02

The same is true for the 8500.

The only real players are V1 and Passport 8500. You could fing both on Ebay.

i have the 8500 and my friend has a V1, the v1 has a bit better range but the 8500 definately looks better
the direction thingy on the v1 is very nice though, and don't forget the Bel 985 (?) is quite nice as well, but looks cheap

V1 retails for around $400
8500 retails for $300

Passport is offering around $30 if you trade-in another detector.

Both can be found cheaper on E-bay.

I went to a local stereo place today and found out u can add a laser deflection devices to the passport 8500. It was a $500 additional option though. Did u guys know that?

Yeah, it's the ZR3 and it's supposed to "jam" the laser beam. As opposed to radar jamming devices that are illegal due to FCC restrictions. Lidar (laser) jamming devices are legal because it is using a light beam as opposed to a radio frequency.

V1 is the only radar detector that is worth the money spent on it.

WRONG!!!!! Have you ever used the 8500? I wouldn't flame a product unless I have first hand knowledge of how it works.

From a pure detection radar detection standpoint, the V1 and 8500 are comparable. V1 has a little better laser detection, but we all know that laser detection really means nothing since you're most likely nailed once it goes off.

So basically you're paying the extra $100 for the arrows.

I'm not saying it's not worth it. Just pointing it out.

Sorry Goaub, but I was RIGHT!!! I had the 8500 right before I got the V1..The 8500 is worthless. I also had the K40, and it was crap too. Oh yeah, I forgot, I also wasted my money on a whistler a few years back. If people want to go out there and happily piss away their money on crap radar detectors, then that's great, but V1 is the only radar detector. THE ONLY RADAR DETECTOR that is worth the money spent on it. And I am speaking from first hand experience.

I'll be sure to consult with you next time I make a purchase then, instead of refering to professional reviews.

Aside fromt the arrows, the V1 has nothing over the 8500 that justifies the $100 price difference.

come'on guys
what's this? on the other side of the forum it's TL vs G35
and here is 8500 vs Va

this looks like a joke! aha lol

but seriously, i think the v1 is a bit better but if it's worth the extra money to you, get it, if not don't get it , it's that simple
my 8500 has served me very well
it usually goes off 8+ blocks away making me always doubting if it's real because i don't see any cops around
my friend's v1 tells where the arrow is coming from, but the range is only about 1 - 2 blocks better, so unless you're travelling at 100mph all the time, they'll both save you rear end

just my 2 cents

Yeah, I usually try not to get into pi$$ing contests with people who like to brag that they have "the best".

I should've know better.

As for your observations, you're right, 8 or 10 blocks really doesn't matter.
