UR pulley delivery

I ordered them and they were to ship on July 19. Still nothing. Anyone else have them on order? If you have 'em, how long did it take? Oh yeah, I skipped the crank pulley. Too many Q's

you do realize the crank pulley is the only one that gives significant gains right?

You do realize the crank pully is also the center of controvery right? On how the crank pully "might" fu$k ur bearing.

Yes I realize the "gains" are made with the crank but it is not worth the potential problems at this point. If/when these are resolved, I will get the crank also.

This is why I passed on it. True, it is mostly a dress up with out the crank pulley. I am playing it safe until I get some positve information it will not screw up the seals, bearings, etc.

So, my question is for those that have ordered them: How long did it take?

Thanks.

Topgum...that was a reply for Davediego...it was suppose to be kinda a sarcastic reply. I was looking to buying the UR pulleys...then i stumbled onto the Acura-CL forum with like the 10 page post...and i said, i think i'll wait out and see what the other TL/CL owners have to say about it. I thinkin UR is saying crap to sell their product..but if it did damage to ur engine...it would take a while to jack up ur car (it was 100,000 with the prelude)...and by then we probably be getting new cars anyways

Alternator pulley was being redisgned and it is shipping to them now. The Accords were using a diferent alternator manufacturer so the fitting was different. As far as the crank balancing thing goes, they are internally balanced, the only thing I can think of is that the heavy stock pulley builds more inertia than the light one other than that I dont think it will damage your car anymore than mashing on the gas at every light.

There lies the problem. Some people are thumbs up, other thumbs down. I wish I could see some test data from somewhere.

I bought the entire kit (well still wating for the alt pulley) but I went to get them installed last staurday, and the place ended up only installing the Acc pulley since they could'nt get the crank pulley out (they had the wrong tool ). anyways so my car got the acc pulley only installed.

With that pulley alone, I feel the car is more responsive from a dead stop. The stock acc pully is alot heavier than the UR one. Plus the acc pulley is the only pulley that is realy visiable under the thood .

My crank pulley is goin in tomorrow. and one more thing the alt pulleys will be shipping at the end of next week.

guys all I'm saying is pulleys are hardly worth the money for the "gains" without the crank pulley. But hey, if you wanna spend $200 for 2hp, be my guest

My intention was never to get big "gains" out of these. In fact you do not get more hp, the pulleys are lighter so the engine works less to turn them. It is more dress up than power without the crank. Don't we often exhange looks for performance? Body kits? Awesome but heavy chrome weels? I like the aluminum look of the pulleys. They match my intake and strut bar so what's the harm?

no harm at all, I was just under the impression that most people do engine mods for the performance and not the looks since you drive around with the hood closed (I hope) do you enter your car in shows? just curious

oh and there is a power gain with the pulleys, a few CL-S guys dropped a few tenths in the quarter after putting them on (crank) and there's also a dyno up on UR's site, although I haven't seen any independent ones so...

I certainly understand the engine failure fears, thats why I've held out on getting the pulleys myself

Lightened pulleys are intended for your car to rev up faster. It helps acceleration. It won't put out huge numbers.

Here is a thing from Dinan on why they say pullies are bad.

I have a UR pulley on my 240 and it does help rev faster...the only problem I had was that the initial shop, that was recommended by UR, didn't adjust the belt tensioner (too tight) and caused the crank pulley seal to fail and leak oil.

I'm hoping that the UR for the tl will make engine rev faster so that the vtec (this is where the power is) will kick on sooner hopefully making the tl a bit quicker...

Does anyone know if the UR pullies are compatible with the comptech sc? I know that the eaton style blowers have a maximum rotation speed limit and don't know if the pulley will cause some problems with the blower spinning to much...

I believe our crankshaft is internally ballanced and there aren't any counterweights on the OEM pullies. I know UR makes different pullies for other HOnda Acuras that have superchargers so I am sure they will do it for us when it is released.

if you get the crank pully then the whole system speed will be slower and with teh CT supercharger you will be turning it slower bottom line running less boost......
