Trouble starting the car
ack, I went to start the car tonight and it took longer than normal to start. I don't know the terminology, but I had to hold the key in the start position longer than normal.
What do you guys think my problem is?
It was 28 degrees out tonight.

That is too weird, I had the very same problem and I live in Brooklyn too. Maybe it was something in the air. It happened once and never happened again. It took too many cranks to start and then it kind of sputtered until it got going. Probably the car was reacting to its first taste of winter.
I had the same problem last Saturday. I dropped my car for the 30K service today and had the service guys investigate the problem. They weren't able to reproduce the problem but they said that it's very common. They said this time of year (in the colder areas I assume), they add an additive to the fuel to prevent it from freezing. I'm not sure if this is true, but I've noticed a lot of people posting similar problems. It seems very common.
I have a suggestion, when it gets cold like that turn the ignition key to "on" and let the fuel pump work for about 3 seconds, you should be able to hear the pump filling up the lines and when it stops, then crank the engine, see if that works for you.
