Unhappy Transmission gone

Acura 3.2Tl 22861 miles. Started kicking into neutral and then jolted and kicked into gear. This happened very suddenly. It was fine and then it wasn't. I had it towed to the dealer in Northern California on Monday. I got a ride to the dealer from a friend. They gave me a loaner car before my Acura even got there. The Service advisor called me the next day and said he changed the transmission fluid and the car seemed fine, however he was going to drive it 50 to 100 miles to see if he could confirm the problem. He called later that afternoon and left a message that he had indeed confirmed the problem of the "transmission issue" and had ordered the part and it would be ready on Friday. I called him back to ask what was the "issue". He very simply stated that he ordered a new transmission. I was unforturnately expecting this answer as I had found this forum as soon as I brought the car in. I asked if this was happening a lot. He stated that he had seen more transmission problems in the last 2 months than he had ever seen before. He said they were mostly on the Type S. Mine is not is Type s. I hardly use the sport shift.
I asked him if that was why he didn't question me regarding this and he said "yes". The "new" transmission will have a warranty of 3 years 36000 miles. I am going to ask the dealer or whoever I need to ask to extend the entire car warranty to 6 years 100000.
I think that is only fair considering the above.

I think an extension in warranty is only fair too, but good luck trying to convince them to give it to you. I think a lot of people are fighting losing battles.

I will inundate them with faxes and phone calls. Maybe they will get so sick of me, they will extend the warranty. Maybe not. I will then go to plan B once I figure out what that will be.

Which Norcal dealer said they would replace your tranny?

I experienced the same transmission problem. Damn dangerous in the middle of traffic when you pop out of gear and into another. After this happened, the car started shifting less crisply/smoothly then it had before.

Brought the car into the dealer and they said that if they couldn't duplicate the problem, then there was nothing they could do.

Which dealer and service manager did you bring yours into? Were you happy with the work?

I had it towed to Marin Acura which is where I bought the car. I don't know yet if I'm happy because I don't have the car back yet.
It was supposed to be done today, which is Friday, however "Danny" the service guy left a message yesterday that the transmission was there, but the car wouldn't be done until Tuesday or Wednesday because they were so busy. (probably with paying customers). I just called there and "Danny" is not in today, so I left a message on his voice mail requesting that the car be done by Tuesday afternoon or Wed morning. Let's see what happens. They did give me a loaner, an acura RSX which is fine to drive around, but I want my car back in a timely manner. All the dealers tell you that they must duplicate the problem. But once that problem starts it doesn't fix itself. So just have them drive it around for a while or take it up to Marin where they will take the time to duplicate it. I'm sorry this is happening to you, because it is dangerous and frustrating at the very least.

They have acknowledged a problem and are remedying it. They are being pretty easy in accepting warranty repair.

Why would you all expect any sort of warranty extension? This makes no sense. You want 100K mile warranty, fine, buy one.

Whay class action lawsuit? LOL, good luck.

It's just a car people...
