transmission failures

I was just curious if there is a general time/mileage that the transmissions tend to go on our TLS. I know that it is probably different but is there a typical window that it tends to happen??

not that i know of...a friend of mine with a type-s and 140k miles wasn't aware of any transmission problem...on the other hand i think someone on this board is on his 8th tranny?

mine is a tl-p...first tranny lasted till 18k, second lasted another 80k, hopefully this third one lasts longer

when it goes it goes. poor maintenance of the atf will make it go out faster along with hard driving.

Yeah its been different for everyone IIRC. However I don't think there has been a report of failiure since the last revision, at least not on here that I have seen. So hopefully they are a bit more reliable now.

what are you blind? there is a whole thread dedicated to post 2/05 replacement failures!

Yes they are better than the original but you have to guess that the warranty rebuilts are test platforms for changes to the general production model~
and may themself also fail-under warranty

My insider tech says anything over 50k miles for an original trans is ~right on schedule~
meaning prone to failure for a gen2 trans

ohhh you have no understanding of the situation- I see, they dont replace the trans unless its failed
need to do some thread reading
The recall is to install an external oil jet kit- if not done get it done
different issue than the extended warranty to 7+9month /109-(114.5 vins with odometer error court case)
Not all 03s are covered on the 7/109- need to check your vin
