I've read throught this forum about people having transmission problems. Most of what I've read is about the car downshifting from 5th gear to 2nd gear. I just started having problems with my 2002 TLS. But my problem is the reverse of what I've read. When I accelerate, the gears do no switch smoothly. There is a big jerk when the gear actually changes. And before it changes gears, the RPM revs pretty loudly like when it's in neutral. I was wondering if anyone else has or had this problem and whether this problem has to do with the transmission.

Take it to the dealership asap. No joke -- take it today. Your tranny is almost shot.

 

Thanks for the reply. I have a scheduled appointment for tomorrow. I was on my way to the dealership last Friday. But by the time I got there, everyone had left because of the big snowstorm. I was just wondering because this is the first problem I've had with this car. Driven about 21K miles.

LET ME KNOW WHAT THE OUTCOME IS. I HAVE A 03 TLS AND MY TRANNY WENT @ 9K, BUT EVEN AFTER I GOT IT BACK IT WOULD STILL DO WHAT UR EXPLAINING. THE SHIFTS ARE VERY ROUGH AND LOUD, NOT SMOOTH AT ALL, NOT LIKE IT SHOULD ME. ALTHOUGH IT ONLY DOES IT SOMETIMES FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS @ A TIME. OTHER TIMES THE CAR IS AS SMOOTH AS CAN BE WITH SHIFTING & ACCELERATING. I BROUGHT IT BACK A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT OF COURSE THEY TELL ME THERE IS NO PROBLEM WHICH JUST MEANS THEIR MICKEY MOUSE TECHNICIANS CANT FIND THE PROBLEM. GOOD LUCK!!
