Took delivery of my new TL, FINALLY!
Thanks to all for your words of advice. I finally purchased a new 2002 Anthracite 3.2 TL Premium yesterday. I must admit that I had second, third and fourth thoughts about buying the vehicle after reading the several and varied negative posts about the car. After driving the car 80 miles home from the dealership, I must say, I LOVE THIS CAR-inside and out! It's just a great ride for me. I also like the Bose sound system. It was plenty loud for me.
The dealership overwhelmed me with service, but also information. Got invited to a TL information evening where they would teach about the car and provide food.
The service manager and sales person told me that the oil changes may be done elsewhere, but the the scheduled maintenance needs to be done at the Acura dealership (1,500 (free) and 7,500 etc). I wondered about this and how much they cost, since there is a Honda dealership just 5 minutes from my home. I would have to drive 80 miiles for these maintenance checkups. Any thoughts on this?
I also asked the service manager about synthetic oil for the car. He thought it was a waste of money. He said that as long as the oil and filter were changed every 3,000 miles, using OEM filter, synthetic would not be needed. I know and have read the numerous threads on this topic here.
Anyway, I can truly say that I am very happy with the car. I had a difficult time sleeping tonight. Just wanted to go out and drive my TL! I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the car staying in good health.

Congratulations on your purchase and good luck on your break-in period! I've had mine since October and I'm still grinnin' when I get in and out of my car! ![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Congrats! The periodic maintenance (7500 mile intervals) cost about $200 to $300 apiece, I believe.
Which dealership did you use? That's some service. If you haven't noticed from the posts on this board, there are very good dealerships and there are very poor dealerships out there.

I have the exact same car as you and have had it since July 2001. I have 18,000 miles on mine with no problems. Just washed her in my driveway today and the anthracite really is a nice colour. Problem is a girl I work with just bought a CL- S and I drove it the other day. I think I should have bought the TL- S, just didn't like the bowling ball trim @ the time, but I must admit it has grown on me. BTW, I still love my baby.

Welcome to the family, I also have a TL-P. You will love to drive this car. I am already contemplating the mods I want--starting with Comptech springs.
Have fun!

All I've wanted to do this weekend is drive this car. I must say, I really like the car.
Thanks for welcoming me. I'm glad to be part of a family of people who have such GREAT taste!
Oh, about the mods, well, there's this little thing of about $10,000 that I owe Honda yet!
The dealership is Acura of Brookfield in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They really pampered me. Even had an expensive bouquet of flowers, although that's not really my thing.
I will attend their training session on the TL. They said it lasts about 3 hours where they go into the car in detail including taking some of the hardware apart and showing what the car is made of.
If I can find out what is done during scheduled maintenance, I'm going to see if I can get the Honda guys to do if for me locally. Will this void the warranty in any way?
Just came home from a trip. A friend who owns a Nissan Maxima drove my car for half the trip. He told me that the TL feels much more solid than his Max. I test drove the 260 hp Max, and there is no comparison. The TL rocks!
I'll have this baby paid for in two years, and by then the 2004 TL will be out. I told my salesperson Annie (she's great) to let me know when they come in. If they improve on this (I've read: more power and more Euro styling) then I definitely want one.
Later guys!
