lots of different transmissions work. Common options include Odessy's, gen3 tl's, cl's and Accord v6 models.
Its a common misconception is that they don't work with one another.
A J-series motor usually works with a j-series mated transmission.
Usually the sensors or solenoids need to be swapped from the old transmission into the new transmission (sensor connections not compatible).
The old senors usually fit perfectly into the new transmission.
Its a common misconception is that they don't work with one another.

Even if the mount bracket itself is different, the mounting threads should be the same right? so that shouldn't be an issue either?

I would do some searching to see what others have done in the past and focus on the threads where the person details the process/what their situation was and what happened.
Their out there, just gotta go find them.
