Throttle too sensitive

I recently bought a 99 TL. Love everything about it, except, that is, for the throttle linkage. Yes, I know the TL is a LOT more powerful than my old Mitsubishi, but I'd like a little more "give" in the pedal as I accelerate. right now, as I press the pedal, the car tends to lurch forward. I'd like a smoother response. Any suggestions?

I have a 2000 and I agree. It is a bit stiff.

You'll get used to it. If you think the TL have throttle sensitivity, you should try my Accord. Damn Drive-by-Wire, that's some sensitive crap.

I agree you'll get used to it, so done worry. If you really can't get use to it, can you adjust the throttle cable?? Im not sure on this one so someone else verify this.

I noticed that when crusing in my car at regular speeds, the gas pedal is barely pushed at all. Very sensitive gas pedal, but that's good it keeps the RPMs down which keeps the gas milage better.

have the dealer adjust the throttle cable, but remember too much slack will mean that the throttle will not open all the way when your foot is on the floor.

I don't know about keeping the RPMs down...at least for me, I find I'm way into the pedal more often than not! With the extra pressure needed for this accelerator, I tend to go further than I might with a softer action.

even when plateauing after acceleration? I obviously push the pedal down for good acceleration (usually not more than 50-70% of the way) but when I reach the desired speed I barely have to push the pedal to keep up speed, usually gradually accelerating accidently .

Thanks. I'll check into adjusting the throttle linkage.

I hated it at first but now I learned to drive the car and I love it! I especially love it when you punch it off the line.

Talking

Couldn't agree more - It's set up to punch it. I may never get used to driving it any other way!
