Throttle body Question......

Any one know a good throttle body to get for my TL? And how about the APex'i control module, anyone have it hooked up? Is it worth it?

As far as I know there isn't any aftermarket throttle bodies for the TL's, about all you can do is get it bored out.

I'm not sure if there is one specifically for the TL or not, but unless you're going w/ a sc or turbo, I'd keep it stock.........it'd just be a waste of $$$ otherwise.

Doesnt the type S have a bigger throttle body and a few other adjustments to make the 260 rather than my 225? Wouldnt a bigger TB combined with a VTEC controller, CAI, headers, and exhuast, create the need to breathe?

Yes the TypeS throttle body is larger. A few people on the board have done it.

sure it would, but why stop there, if you're going to put a larger t/b on then you should also think about having your intake manifold ported and polished, there is no real sense in putting more air into the t/b just to have it restricted at the i/m

Well, i belive that would be the next step i would take, now the question is where do i find a TB, should i look for a stock type s, or a aftermarket? What do you think the gains would be from all that, combined with free flow cat, and custom exhuast, are lookin at like hp of a stock type s or a little more?

regarding the t/b personally go for the stock type-S & bore it out, free flow cat = 0 gains, exhuast = small gains, check the thread on the difference between tl-p & tl-s that'll give you an idea of what needs to be done

I would have to disagree about getting a port and polish, it's not worth getting it done. See this thread below for all the details:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...5&page=1&pp=25

As you can see, the senior members (fssttyms1, mr steve, r10apple) have given their opinions about the p & p. After reading this, you should be able to come to an obvious conclusion yourself.

I read that whole thread and there is no real proof either way, however I think that combined with all the other air flow mods the gains wouldn't be substantial but would still be there, anyway if you want real gains you need to get further into the motor and looking at changing the cams, pistons and other internal goodies. as far as opinions go i myself take the info weigh the pros and cons for myself, because ultimately its my car or in this case Mikeskillz car

I agree with your general comments. As for no proof either way, I would not go that far. The CL guys have done the p & p with disappointing results, and this was confirmed with A&J Racing, whom I have spoken to directly. When asked for dyno proof that gains were made, it was promised but never delivered. Am I saying that there are no gains? No I'm not. I agree with you that the gains from a p & p would not be substantial (or minimal gain in HP). Real gains will have to come from another direction, as you have mentioned. As you say, ultimately it's up to the individual to decide if it's a good mod to do. But if you consider the amount of money you have to spend to p & p, you could have put that money towards some other mod - why dump money down the drain for minimal gains? That's the point I was trying to make for Mike, but he didn't get my meaning. My
