Check this article out and the link to the new Altima's and I35's performance... appearently they run 4-spd automatic so I guess they have longer gears... unless they run you with the 5-spd manual tranny...

The new 2002 Maxima will have a 6 speed manual. The engine will be 3.5 liters with 260 horsepower. All three line of the Maxima will have HID as standard. The car is catching up to us in options. The Infiniti line will have the better equipment just like Acura compared to Honda. Wonder what Acura will do for the next TL and TL-S?

I think the one on Speedvision website is G35, not I35. G35 is the same as Japanese Skyline Sedan(not the famour GT-R, mind you), which will be RWD, NOT FWD!!! However, in Japanes, they have 5-speed Auto with manual mode, I doubt that it would have 4-speed auto in US as there is no point of it(Why bother have 4-speed auto for US while the rest of the whole car is identical to Japanese models??)
P.S. Another rumor is that Japanese version of G35(Skyline) uses CVT tranny.... still need to have it confirmed though..

Guy's Chill with the Nissan/Infinity... Just Remember NSX3.2 VTEC from mid 90's is 290hp+. Next gen iVTEC 3.5l v6 will SMOKE the Nissan engines. 100Hp/L should be easy with the new VTC plus VTEC on both intake and exhuast. That'll be 350HP!!

The I35 looks nice; The new Altima does, too.
All this competition is great! These are exactly the kinds of cars I love, and I'm really happy that there's gonna be a number to choose from next time I'm in the market!

It's nice to see that Japan is finally sending over some beefed up nice cars that the rest of the world gets except the USA. The customers have shown that we want the same goodies that they have in other part of the world. Still on one hand all those EPA regulations are holding us back and on the other hand US imported cars are more safe.
Just recently Japan has reached an agreement with US to import cars like Subaru WRX and maybe the Mitusbishi EVO or Nissan Skyline. Now we can get the more powerful engines that Asia always had.
Nissan is making a name for itself again by introducing the new line of upcoming redesigned cars like Altima, I35, 2002 Maxima, G35, and the Z. Hope this trend will influence other manufacturers to do the same. Will the new Mazda RX7 or Supra come back to the US? We can just hope it does...

Its put up or shutup for Nissan. If the Altima and the new Max do not do well they are going to be in big trouble. Hopefully Honda/Acura will take a good look at these new cars and make some nice improvements to the line.
By the way with the new Altima coming out expect super deals on '01 '02 Maximas.
