TCS & CEL light. HELP!!

my tcs and cell lights are on, they keep coming on together. after some google search i found that da tcs and egr valve are linked together somehow. my understanding was vacuum but i don't see any lines coming off it.

so the dealership finally realized cleaning the egr valve is not going to work. so today they finally swapped out my egr valve for a new one. on the way home the tcs and cel light came back on again.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO CHECK? i cant remember reading anything else but i don't know what to tell the dealer, and whatever THEY tell me is gon be a bunch of bs anyway

what trouble codes did they pull at the dealership?
to clean the egr passages you must remove the intake manifold- not spray stuff down the place where egr valve sits- thats not going to fix it
TCS CEL- can be a trans problem --often
Why google when azine has search feature and many members who actually know stuff.
What year and miles is your car- it is a TL correct?

I've got the same problem, but I haven't cleaned the egr yet, I had the transmission rebuilt last fall but the lights are still on. I'm pretty sure mine is the egr though. Have you checked the codes its throwing and looked em up?

Well if the lights are on there should be a code. Get the code and we can help address teh problem from there!

ive been letting the dealer do all the work. i figure hey, i paid for it right?so i don't know if they removed it or not since they are an independent used dealer. probably not. when the mechanic scanned n cleaned out the codes taday he said there was only one, and that it was egr. i had the transmission replaced. supposedly a rebuild from a third party company. should i find out the name and check the numbers independently?

99 tl 115k

i'm going to autozone right now and have them run the scanner on it and see what THEY tell me. then i'll check back here.

just got back from autozone, and the man tell me the code say egr flow.

something i forgot to specify, is that the cel is ALWAYS on, the tcs will work but after a couple miles drving the tcs light comes on and wont go off till the car is restart.

should i be worried about transmission? i didnt realize any of my symptoms cold indicate that.

I have had the tcs and cel come on twice before. First time the dealer replaced the tps (whole throttle body) which fixed the problem. Second time I cleaned the throttle body and iacv with carb cleaner/toothbrush and fixed the problem as well. Granted the cel and tcs came on together unlike in your case. I have 130k and have never touched the egr for what its worth.

The TCS light often comes on for other codes. Check the DIY section on EGR port cleaning. Its a 2 hr job first time, all you need is simple hand tools and a few cans of carb cleaner. clean it pull the clock backup fuse and reset the cel.
