Tail Light Removal HELP

Hi, I did a few searches, but to no avail...I just bought an 07 Cadillac CTS and I'm starting to part out my baby , a 1999 TL...I was looking for instructions to remove my tail lights (they're they 02-03 OEM ones) so that I can sell them. I don't remember how I installed them as I did it like 3 years ago...could anyone shine a light on me here or give me a link to a DIY? Thanks in advance! Oh, and keep your eyes open in the black market for an OEM bodykit, OEM 02-03 tails and a sickkk sound system...they'll all be up for sale soon!

Will the 02-03 model tail lights fit directly into a 2000 year model? If so, let me know how much you want.

humm. it's been a while since i did mine but from what i remember, you unscrew all those little knobs that u use for the cargo net, and from there just pull back the carpet, and there are 4 (maybe 5) nuts that need to be unscrewed. and then pull out.

yeah its real easy, like the guy before said, take off the carpet trim, and the tails are held in by 6 nuts i believe. just unscrew them, disconnect the wiring, and gently push them from the inside out. sometimes they get a little stuck to the body panels from age, so if it dosnt give at first, push more. good luck, its really easy

It's not too hard. I did it about a month ago and figured it out on my own. I'll try to explain the best I can but I have no pics and I can be a bit wordy

1. Remove the center plastic trim/cover from the "threshold" of the trunk by removing the 4 plastic plugs by unscrewing them with a flathead screwdriver. Once the plastic screw comes out, you can pry the remaining piece out with the screwdriver or even your fingernails. Lift the spare tire cover up so you can pull the plastic trim out. Use the hook on the spare cover and hang it on the hole in the trunk lid liner. The cover has a lip that goes underneath the spare cover. This will give you flexibility when pulling back the trunk lining to access the back of the lights.

2. Remove the cargo net anchors (plastic knob things) that are mounted to the upper corner of the trunk opening close the top right corner of the left light and the top left corner of the right side light. They unscrew counterclockwise like any other screw but they might be very tight. I had to use some pliers for one side. Use a rag to cover the knob so you don't get any teeth marks from the pliers. The knob may come out with the stud or it may unscrew from the stud. Don't worry, when I did it one thing happened to the 1st one and the other thing happened to the 2nd one. They'll still screw back on OK.

3. Now you are able to pull back the panel to expose the rear of the tail lights. You should see 6 studs holding the light assembly in place. You should also see a wiring harness running up to the lamp assembly from below. Disconnect the harness from the lamp assembly. It locks into place so you have to squeeze the clip so it will release the plug. You may have to wiggle it out because they fit together pretty tight. I had to use a flathead screwdriver to help pry while I pressed the clip to unlock it.

4. Using a 10mm wrench or small ratchet with a 10mm socket, loosen the nuts on all of the studs. The ones in the corner are a little hard to get to but you should be able to get to them. For the last one in the upper corner, I removed the turn signal socket from the lamp so I could have more room to get my hand in there and turn the wrench. Once you get them all off, the lamp assembly should come right out. Installation is just the opposite.

Hope this helps. Told you I was wordy. Let me know if you have any other questions.
