So i had a bottle of hennessy in a paper bag and somehow the cap came off, broke the bag and now my trunk fuckin smells hardcore like cognac.

Should I just buy another trunk carpet cover thing? It was almost half a handle of liqiour that filled. what a wastee.....

but i think the bottom of the trunk carpet, the one that covers your spare, has a hard cardboard like bottom. im guessing if it didnt seep through, then take it out and wash it in your backyard with some good smelling soap. or have it professionally cleaned by one of your neighborhood car wash places that offers a carpet cleaning.

if it did go through then maybe you would have to replace it but how much do you smell the inside of your trunk. i assume the smell will start to eventually go away after you wash some of it out. now if its getting to the interior of your car then thats not good and i would remove the spare cover to see if the smell is there. there is also a possibility that it could have spilled onto other pieces of carpet in the trunk.

dahahaha J you are trippin man. wouldnt be too hard to find a new trunk liner. but id first attempt to wash it out too. its not too hard to strip trunk out

lol, most likely it soaked thru the wood, depending on how bad it is, id buy a new one...

when done cleaning and it still smells, use vinegar to get the smell out, or mix a little bit of vinear with whatever your mixing and scrub.

 

Wash it and leave it outside to dry and air out for a few days. It will be ok.

might be an issue if you get pulled over (we never speed right?). Really officer, its not me, its my trunk..no really... Not a conversation I would want to have...

 

i had gas spillage...from those portable red gas tanks...

simple use laundry detergant with a power washer
wash it wish max power on the power washer.
then repeat in a week/10 days. two or three cleanings should take out the funk!

at least its cognac, that stuff smells GOOD. I spilled a case of beer in my dads car and that shit STANK so bad, that I actually puked. stale beer is gross smelling and that just took months to clean.

 

i had a battery in my trunk and it tipped and spilled. wash it and then Febreeze. now u cant tell that i spilled anything in my trunk.

u could always cut out another piece of particle board, and wrap felt around it, prob only cost 20 bucks...

 

I had the same problem with a bottle of 151 in the trunk of my other ride with a non-removable carpet. I just let it air out and dry off, and it was fine. Otherwise for smells, I usually use carpet cleaner that has foaming action so it lifts the stains out.
