speeding ticket

well, got clocked doin' 85 in a 65 in Conn. Guess I'm just hosed and have to pay the fine. According to what he told me, I just have to pay the fine and no points will show up on my license (my main concern). Says something along those lines on the ticket too. Guess my Icebox will have to wait

How much was your ticket? Was it $65?? I had the same thing happen to me on 91 near hartford. 75 in a 50, through the capital area. Instead of the speeding ticket he gave me a "miscellaneous" ticket, kind of like a seatbelt violation. It didn't cause points but will slightly affect your insurance. I got the letter from my insuarance company the other day notifying me about the increase in rate due to the incident.

Fight it Man!

If it was for a moving violation then take defensive driving (if you haven't done so in a yr) & pay the court cost. It won't show up in your ins.

It's a complaint ticket. I'm from NY. $279. Somewhere on 91.

If you get a moving violation ne where in the tri-state, you will get points on ur liscense. The three states have worked together to prevent out of state drivers from neighboring states from driving careless. Since we have many drivers here commuting to and from all three states. Check this if you want to, but Im pretty sure. So if you have a NY liscence and get a speeding ticket in CT or NJ you will get points. Same applies other way around too.

I live in CT and have gotten tickets here. If you are an in-state resident you are lucky he didn't revoke your license for doing over 80mph.

You may not get any points, but it is still on your record and the insurance company will be able to see it- you just have no points on your record (if you have a lot of points you can have your license revoked).

Over 80 equals a suspended or revoked license?:wow:

The laws in some states are over the top. The more I hear things like that, the more I love living in Florida. The weather doesn't hurt either.

Yeah, if your over age 65 you can drive your LeSabre through the front door of a grocery store, kill a few people, and get away with a slap on the wrist!

DMV points has nothing to do with Insurance points. At least for NJ, every year, DMV deduct 2 points from you record if you have no new violation. Insurance points stay for 3 years. So if the insurance company see your dmv record with a speeding violation, they might still add insurance point to you policy.
