on the way there i stopped off an purchased some super glue so the grill would go back together... stuff didn't hold so i pulled over about a block away from the dealer and found a random screw in my trunk and screwed the grill back in place.
the car needed a new hood, grill and tires other than that it was in GREAT shape.

Even with the hood and grill damage, $15,000 isn't too far off the mark.
Here are the Kelly Blue Book Dealer Trade-In values for a 2003 TL-S with navigation:
Condition/Value
Excellent $16,550
Good $15,505
Fair $13,665
And the KBB Private Party values are:
Condition/Value
Excellent $19,860
Good $18,600
Fair $16,970
So the dealer can probably sell the car tomorrow, as is, for a profit.
With a little work they can make a couple of grand off of it.
