Exclamation Signs of a bad starter?..

Well just last thursday, i tried to start my car up in the morning. I put the key in, gave it 3 clicks and then i hear these awful sounds. A kind of rough start with some grinding noise and high pitch noise..? kind of hard to explain. Well since this has a happened, i had a few incidents of it not starting over. Some cases it took me 5 times to get it running and sometime 1-2 times. I had a friend listen in and was told the fuel pump is fine so could this be a sign of a replacement starter?

sounds like your starter for sure. So it when you try to start the car sometimes it just clicks and doesn't catch and you have to keep trying until it does catch right? when you here that shitty ass sound when it does catch give it some gas and it will go away faster. My wifes car does the same thing and it is not the battery or alt., it is the starter just haven't had time to replace it but will be very shortly, I would suggest you replace yours soon as well.

well it just makes a really bad grinding noise which also takes a few moments to actually have the motor crank over the engine. i know that for sure it is not the battery nor the alt. hopefully, my mechanic is open tomorrow so that i know its teh starter thats crapping out for sure.

btw, where did you get your starter? ive looked around and found some remanufactered ones for around $130 and new ones for $250 or so. Would you suggest going with a remanufactered or new one?

Remans from your local auto parts stores usually come with a lifetime warranty so thats your best bet. Just ask for the one with the lifetime warranty.

Grinding noise usually means worn/missaligned gears or the started is just not throwing out its gears far enough to engage.
