When you put the car in reverse, the side view mirror (passenger) automatically tilts down...however, the driver side doesn't do anything (at least on mine 2002 TL)...is this supposed to be the way it is (driver side not tilting down) or would I need to make a trip to the dealer to fix it?? Thanks for the clarification.

Dont think so, if you did there would be a button for it by the side mirror adjustment knob.

 

Someone brought this up earlier and wanted to know of a mod to do this to their '00 TL...I guess if you wanted to, you could go to the dealer and get the parts needed from an '02 model and install them. Any thoughts on this actually being feasible?

 

Not possible without a bunch of money. The logic that makes it tilt down isn't in the mirror motor, it's in the main brain in the car. So you'd have to replace the main brain. Already tried to do it.

 

yup that was me earlier. Not worth it. I would rather have a lil camera on the navi instead. :wow:

 

Yes, it is only the passenger side. It's because you can see how close things are to you on the driver side for the most part (plus you need to be able to look at one of the mirrors to see what's directly behind you).

Also, make sure your mirror-select switch is set to the middle (not L or R) or it won't work. I'm not exactly sure why but it took me a while to figure out why my mirror wasn't tilting and this was the problem.
