Should I lose the Catalytic?

I am having Comptech headers and Comptech installed next week. What do you guys think about losing the catalytic? should i leave it in place, or do a straight pipe? and if i do take it off, anyone know how loud it will be, i am looking for a rumbling humm... not something that can be heard from a blocks away..and anyone have any idea about the hp gained?

No, don't do it. you wouldn't even gain anything but sound.

sure, take it off as long as you don't mind failing inspection.

but it probably won't do much for you.

do you go to nyu by the way? i just graduated there last year...go violets

a guy over on v6accord.com got the test pipe a few weeks back and he seems to think it really helped out.......he is now claiming to have 249chp.............lol

In my opinion, even if you do gain a few hp, it's really not worth it because A) the fumes coming out of your exhaust are gonna smell, and cops will be able to tell B) when inspection time comes, you are gonna fail C) it's just bad for the environment

I've heard a lot of people have trouble with the check engine light coming on after this mod too..........I wouldn't bother.

Hey, I went to Stern too, undergrad, then made the unfortunate mistake of going to law school. Anyway, do not remove the cat, besides never passing inspection, and a probable check engine light, I know of people who have gotten seriously bad tickets in NY & NJ for no cat (on DSMs), I've even heard there are some cops with mirrors who look under the car to check. Its not worth it. If you want more hp get headers & a CAI.
good luck man
