Shock Sensor Install for TL- S

Has anyone ever done this themself?

I tried following NOVAWHITETYPES's instructions and I'm not sure if I'm tapping into the right yellow wire.

Are TL-S's different?

Thanks.

I installed the same sensor on my TL-S. Be sure to use the yellow wire with silver dots. The 504D works great for me.

Also installed the glass breakage sensor. Purchased mine from autotech also.

There are more then 1 yellow wires with silver dots. Actually, most of the wires have silver dots.

Do you have a photo? You can AIM or e-mail (info@evotuners.com) me if you wish.

I tapped into the yellow wire with silver dots. But nothing happens btw, the wire is so short and tiny, how do you tap it safely? I think mine doesn't work might be because 1) I tapped the wrong yellow wire 2) I didn't get a good tap. Any help?

I was going to get the AU-85TA from autotech's, its the shock sensor/glass breakeage combo sensor made by Omega? Anyone know about these?

The other thing the guy said I would need would be the 451M which will make the 100ma output into a 15 amp trigger.

DJ5 did you do separate sensors or a combo unit?

I am also still very unsuccessul in getting my shock sensor installed. I have tried tapping so many yellow wires with silver dots. If anyone figures it out also send me a line, please! copland007@thewebworks.com

did you ever consider that you may have a dead sensor?

Try using a meter to see if you are getting a ground when the sensor is triggered.

Nope. I found the right wire. I'll post the photos whenever my cable modem comes back up... wait I can't post pics anymore... I'll just post it on my site then.

Unfortunately, NOVA's photos are misleading for atleast my 2003 TL-S.

I purchased the DEI Shock sensor and glass breakage sensor seperately.

I used Nova Whites instructions plus I found another wiring diagram somewhere on the site. I tapped the yellow wire with silver dots that is closest to the park brake. Used a female plug to plug the red wire into the back of the fuse box.

I tried this on my '99 TL and the sensor cannot trigger the alarm. Any help? I think it's either I tapped the wrong wire (I tapped the yellow with silver dots only wire)...or I didn't tap it good enough...the darn wire is so small I'm afriad I might cut it instead of tap it.

I'll get photos of it whenever my damn cable modem comes back up. It's the only dark green plug facing the firewall. There another wire that has a thin red line but sometimes you have to look in the middle of the bunch.

FYI

My car is a 2003 TL-S.

I tried to hook a sensor up to my RSX, but it would not trigger the alarm.

I used the "Hood" pin on the "Security Control Unit - Harness"

In my Helm it is described as:

A18 GNR/BLK

Hood Open 'Check For voltage to ground' There should be 1V or Less
Hood Closed 'There should be 5V or more'

Is the TL voltages described in to same way? I am thinking maybe the TL's just need to be set to Ground to Trigger it and maybe the RSX need to be less then 1V.

Can someone with a TL Helm, tell me how it describes the "Hood" pin on the harness.

Because I tried 3 different shock sensors and non of them could trigger it and all the sensors work, becuase I tested them with my multimeters.

Thanks Guys

That is where I was wondering if you need something like the 451M that the guy told me we would need to turn the 100ma output into a 15 volt trigger??

Anyone have any insight to the guy's question about step #5 of NOVAwhiteTypeS intsructions?

"hey, why are you splicing those 2 wires together. It defeats the purpose of how a dual stage shock sensor works!! You should have gotten a single stage sensor if your doing it this way. I installed a dual stage shock sensor onto my factory TL alarm and now when I tap the car it prewarns (it just honks the horn) and if I hit it hard enough it trips the alarm and both the headlights and horns go off."

Is there a better way to do this so both stages work?

I figured out why the shock sensor wasn't triggering my stock alarm in the RSX. The "Security Contol Unit" wants to see a 'ground' signal for like a 1/2 or more before it will trigger the alarm. My shock sensor is only giving it a ground signal for a split second, so its not triggering it. I verified this by hooking 1 wire to ground and 1 wire to the 'hood' wire on the harness. I then armed the alarm and waiting about 30 seconds, then flicked the wires together and the alarm wouldnt go off, but if I held the wires together for a 1/2 second or more the alarm would trigger. So I need a shock sensor that 'Holds Ground' longer after being. Does anyone know of any shock sesnors with adjustable duration?
